Scales shock

After talking myself out of it approximately 20 times yesterday, I bit the bullet and went to a WW class local to home. I wasn't expecting good things since my last WI was 3 weeks ago and I've not exactly been saintly since then.

So, I was expecting to be heavier, since my usual WI is first thing on a morning and I never let a thing pass my lips beforehand and this was an evening class. However, I wasn't expecting to be 8.5 pounds heavier. I almost cried.

I guess I should take into account the fact that I don't normally get weighed after eating breakfast and lunch and drinking my body weight in water and coffee.... but it's clear that I have gained some weight with the last few weeks of not having my eye on the bloody ball.

I stayed for the meeting and I actually quite enjoyed it. The leader seems lovely and the rest of the class were very friendly. I felt a bit of a fraud when everyone congratulated me on losing weight so far. I know I've still lost 43.5 pounds, but I don't feel overly like I should be congratulated given I've lost the plot of late.

I think in a sadistic way, gaining has given me a very firm kick. I had decided last night before getting weighed that I could have one last take away and start afresh this morning... but after the shock of the gain, I went home and consoled myself with some oven chips and Bisto instead. Not exactly a healthy meal, but it felt like a treat.

So I am back at it today with a new determination. I did 60 sit ups this morning before showering (I've decided I need to sort out my core to stop my back from being so bloody useless). I walked to the station this morning (to see my sodding train leaving the platform) instead of getting the bus. I bought a bagel for breakfast at the station and asked for Marmite, no butter and I've made myself a salad for lunch. So far so good.

I'm wearing a new outfit today. Not sure if I can get away with the leggings and tunic look with my tree trunks, but I actually feel ok in it... Opinions welcome... not sure if I should stick to jeans in future?

So like I said yesterday, I am out in London tonight but I will have 17 points left to play with so I intend to be on my best behaviour. Wish me luck!

Weekend wake up call

What a lovely weekend I had, fantastic to spend time with my bestest girlie friends enjoying the amazing weather. We drank a lot of cocktails (which contained fruit juice - therefore healthy) a lot of Pimms (with fruit in it - therefore healthy) and didn't really eat all that much as we pretty much filled ourselves full of liquid. We walked miles around London Bridge, Tower Bridge and Borough Market (my feet weren't overly impressed) and enjoyed the hottest weekend of the year so far. Fab. I can thoroughly recommend the apartments we stayed in if you are ever in London. We had 2 apartments sleeping 4 each and it worked out at just under £100 per person (7 of us) - fairly cheap by London standards considering the local Premier Inn was £145 per room, per night.

The penis cake went down a treat and was very tasty, if I do say so myself. My friend also loved the various tat we had accumulated for her and I think was secretly quite pleased we had bought her an assortment of penis shaped treats.

I am now suffering however. My back has decided it's taken offence at something I did at the weekend and I am walking like I've a snooker cue shoved somewhere it shouldn't be. I also feel really fat. The scales are still lying to me, (15stone 11 this morning) so I've actually no idea what I weigh at the moment, but the heat at the weekend certainly made me realise I still have a very long way to go. I love the picture below - except I hate me in it. I am huge compared to everyone else (and that's with half of me cut out of the photo). Big wake up call.

I'm definitely joining a new WW class tonight. So, I expect I will be heavier than my last official WI given I normally get weighed of a morning, but I am determined to try and haul my lard ass firmly back on the straight and narrow. My eating has been ok the past few days and I am definitely making much better choices again, but I still don't feel 100% back at it. Exercise other than walking and the odd game of tennis, is practically none existent, so I need to get back at that. I think I'd perhaps be suffering less with my back if I was consistently mobile, instead of fits and starts.

So another fairly busy week, new WW class tonight, out with a friend in London tomorrow and out with other friends in Windsor on Thursday. Matt is away with work until Friday, so no doubt we'll end up doing something Friday night too. Saturday, I've a friend coming over for lunch and Sunday Matt and I are going for Sunday lunch. Phew. Planning is most definitely in order.

Lying scales and penis paraphernalia

I've given up trying to work out the scales. I either have some souped-up metabolism and I am wasting away or they are just downright liars. According to them, I am losing a stone a day. I'm at 13stone 6 today apparently. Harumph. The worst thing is, I am starting to believe them, so I am going to be so upset when I weigh in at my new WW class next week and I am my real weight. Bloody things. Although Matt is also fairly annoyed as they still show him at the right weight and he'd like them to tell him a few porkies. I need to look harder for that "Lie to me switch."

I did contemplate Boots, and I even hovered around the scales in there yesterday, but they talk to you... and I had some irrational fear they would blurt out my weight for the world to hear and I am not quite ready for public humiliation just yet.

Last night was very busy, One of my best friend's Hen weekend begins today, so I had a lot of preparation to do. I am not the most creative of ladies at all (much to my dismay), but I whipped up some Mr. & Mrs. Cards and was most pleased with the result.

Ok I lie, I am not very pleased with them as they look fairly shabby (and not shabby chic) but it's the thought that counts, hey.

I also baked a penis shaped chocolate cake (which I should perhaps spare you the photo of as its a bit unpleasant..... ok, maybe I'll stick it at the end so you can avoid if you are offended by penis shaped baked goods as I'm fairly proud of my efforts, such a classy lady I am!) and wrapped up a miriad of penis paraphernalia which I am sure my dear friend will be over the moon with:

Doesn't every girl long for a penis pepper pot or egg fryer? How many times can I say the word penis in one post??

So we're heading into London tonight and staying in an apartment by London Bridge. The weather is set to be fab, so fingers crossed for a wonderful weekend. We don't have a lot planned, but I am sure alcohol will feature fairly heavily, so I'll have to try and remain focused.

I've had 2 mini shortbreads for breakfast (healthy) which gave me a massive palpitation that scared the bejesus out of me... ok perhaps it wasn't the shortbread, but if I believe it was, I perhaps won't trough any more. We've a company lunch today as one of the girls in Finance is leaving (hence the shortbread and lots of other cakey goodness which I intend to ignore) and I've pre-chosen a steak sandwich which was the healthiest item I could see on the menu.

So, plan for the weekend is to have a lovely time with my bestest girlie friends and take it easy on the booze front and make sensible choices with food. It's the best I can hope for.

I've come into work like a brazen hussy today. I'm wearing a dark grey skinny jean (which is not ideal for a large thighed girl addmittedly, but i like a lot) and a summery floaty top - which is apparently massively see-through. Not the cleverest when you work in an office full of men. The photo is to ascertain whether I can see my boobage - not in the light of the toilets anyway, so maybe I'll work in there.

I am also wearing my favourite sandals made for me by my very clever sister. See how pretty they are?

Ok so that's me. Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Don't scroll down if you don't want to see the willy cake......

Disclaimer - the cake is not to scale and not in anyway shape or form based on anyone I know. I don't take any responsibility for disappointment caused by comparing this to real ones.

:)

Ta-da!

Decisions, Decisions

So the scales are still being completely dishonest. They still have me firmly at 15stone 11, which would be amazing, however my last official WI was 17stone 6 so clearly they are pulling my rather large leg. Strangely, Matt is showing at his correct weight on them, so I am wondering if I've inadvertantly set the "Lie to me if I am still a complete Heffer Switch" to on.

Ho Hum. Anyway, I shall continue to try and shift some of the lard. Although last night didn't really work out overly well. Date night seems to have shifted to a Tuesday so we went out for a couple of drinks by the river and ended up eating our body weight in Tapas.

So, I need to make a decison. Do I continue with WW which has served me rather well with a 52 pound loss so far and go to a different class to up my motivation a bit? Or, do I change plans altogether and try Slimming World? I've read some good things about SW and people seem fairly enthusiastic about it. I just don't know. I've just paid for another monthly pass with WW, so I think I will try a new class next week and give it a month. If I am still not firmly back on track, it's time for a new tactic.

I am loving the weather at the moment and it makes me want to frolic outside in skimpy clothes... which would be hideous for any spectators, but the good thing is it makes me want to eat Salads and Fruit and not much else (apart from tapas last night obviously).

So hopefully another few good days on the eating front and perhaps a bit of gentle exercise. One step at a time is still how it's got to be. I really don't know where my sense of weight loss urgency has gone. Come back!

Hormonal Scales

Yesterday wasn't the best day from a diet perspective. I slept badly and woke up bright and early feeling like I really didn't want to get out of bed at all. I half considered calling in sick, but I'm far too conscientious for that so I dragged myself out of bed and forced myself out of the door. And then proceeded to sit in traffic for 1.5 hours. Gah!

Breakfast yesterday was a tuna salad sandwich, which I had meant for lunch, but I'd cleverly forgotten I was going to a friend's house to see her, her 4 week old daughter and another friend. So quiche and salad for lunch - not overly bad but I did have a spoonful of trifle afterwards. Naughty Linz.

Last night I had booked myself in for a Sport's Massage as my back has been niggling me a lot of late and I've had limited use of my right arm - not overly handy I can assure you. I usually have massages every 6 weeks, but due to never actually being at home of late, I have missed a fair few appointments. Ouch it was blooming painful - but very much needed, I feel a bit sore today, but most definitely better for it. After that I went to see a friend for dinner and she served up Pizza, Oven Chips and Salad. Delicious, but once again, not overly ideal.

However, after all of the that the hormonal scales are showing a 2 stone loss this morning. Yes, I wrote that right. After 6 attempts at getting on and off and on again, 2 stone off since Sunday morning. Utterly brilliant.

I think I need to find myself a new WW class as the Wednesday morning WI just doesn't seem to be working for me anymore. There is a class on Tuesday night's near where I live so I am wondering if I should switch to that so I can actually stay for the class - might help me refocus a bit - except I can't go tonight. Ho Hum.

Working from home today as I had a 0530am start. That was an absolute horror. I couldn't sleep all night for fear of sleeping in past my alarm so I've had about 10 minutes sleep. Once I clock off at 1pm, I shall be heading back to bed or perhaps the garden since it's another beautiful day. Exercise will be none - or perhaps a walk later if I find some energy from anywhere.

Weekend round up

Hello People. What a lovely weeked it has been. Fairly busy Friday and Saturday and very relaxing today. I could get used to 3 day weekends.

Friday we got up bright and earlyish and drove over to Ross-on-Wye for the wedding. We arrived at the hotel a couple of hours before the ceremony so were able to get changed and grab a quick sarnie for lunch as I knew I'd be chewing my arm off if we didn't have a little something beforehand. The wedding was lovely, I drank more than I'd planned (but it was vodka and slimline tonic as opposed to wine), but definitely ate less so I am hoping it kind of balanced itself out. I danced a lot so loads of exercise as well. Here is me in the stripy dress, not the best picture but you get the idea. I had a couple of compliments on it, so I felt fairly happy with my choice. Just a bit too much leg on show for my liking, but I suppose once I finally get round to losing more weight, they won't be such a trauma for me.

Yesterday we had a full english breakfast in the hotel before heading off to Cheltenham for a look around as I've never had the pleasure. Loads of walking and a Costa Coffee stop were about the size of it. I did try and persuade Matt we should go to the Food and Drink Festival that was taking place, but he convinced me it was a bad idea since we were both still stuffed from Breakfast and would end up eating just because we were there. He's quite wise at times.

After that, we drove to Stow on the Wold. What a lovely place. Spent an hour wandering around and looking in the shops. Very pleasant. I have to confess to us buying some delicious bread and butter, a pork pie and a couple of cakes from gorgeous deli type shop. Not overly healthy, but for once we've not scoffed them all immediately just because we had them. Came home and watched the film Grand Torino which was thoroughly enjoyable with half a cake and a nice cup of tea. That was it for the the day, so in terms of food, I kind of did ok.

Today I actually indulged in some exercise. The weather is gorgeous so we got up and played tennis. I've learnt not to wear my watch when exercising as I don't spend my whole time trying to work out if I've done enough yet. 1 hour later, I actually felt knackered. A proper achievement for me of late.

Since then, I've had a quarter of the pork pie with salad and chutney and spent the rest of the afternoon lazing in the Garden enjoying the sun - how very pleasant.

I've another fairly busy week ahead, out tomorrow to see a friend for dinner and then one of my best mates is heading down to London from Liverpool on Friday and we're all staying in an apartment we've rented near the South Bank. It's her Hen Do - but we're not allowed to call it that.... So it's a girls weekend in London. I've a few things to try and sort before then to make it a little bit special for her....

And that's me. I'm off back outside now to catch the rest of the sun before it heads off and we're back to winter once again - probably tomorrow.

Have fun people.

Random ramblings

I've been a tad quiet on the blogging and commenting front the last couple of days so I must try and have a bit of a catch up with you all once I get a minute. The diet is going ok, but work has been manic and the Parentals have been down so I've not really had a moment to myself.

I picked said Parentals up from the station on Tuesday morning after they had spent a few days in London (apparently Sister Act is brilliant if anyone fancies a London Show). Cue my dad huffing and puffing about the size of my car and not being able to fit their MASSIVE suitcase into the boot. Why they needed a suitcase the size of a house for a 4 day trip is beyond me but my Parents don't seem to travel light at all. Bless 'em. We spent a bit of time at the flat (I was 'working' from home) and enjoyed the Sun and then we headed to our local Greek restaurant for dinner. Very pleasant. I tried to make more sensible choices, limited my wine intake insisted we walk to and from the Restaurant. Not bad for me I think.

Yesterday the weather was amazing. I came into work for a few hours in the morning and had a wardobe malfunction which meant I couldn't eat until 3pm or get myself to Weigh In. I was wearing a lovely pair of brand new sandals as purchased for me by my sister for my birthday from River Island:

Imagine my horror when I stepped out of the office on my way to get weighed and the toe post broke. Which saw me with an ankle strap and a shoe flapping around all over the place. Clearly I couldn't walk anywhere so I had to scurry back to the office (as best I could with a flappy shoe) and hide under my desk. If I worked with any women, I could have asked for an emergency flip flop purchase and a sarnie for lunch, but the men in my office just look scared if you ask for a favour. Thankfully I was leaving at 2pm so I could drive home bare foot and recover my foot dignity.

Last night as the weather was so good, I popped to our local butchers and purchased some top quality burgers and steaks and did a mini BBQ (apparently according to moaning father, it's been at leat 14 years since he went to a BBQ not hosted by him and my mother as everyone takes advantage of his good nature (!!???) - I swear that man exaggerates too much, must be where I get it from). I filled up on Salad and one burger (no bun) and a steak and one tinsy tiny Blackcurrant Cider. Go me.

Last day of the working week for me as we're off to a Wedding tomorrow in Ross-on-Wye. I've decided on the stripey dress (my mother said it looked lovely on me and she is the first to tell me when I look like a fat old bag) so I need to pop out now and get some industrial strength pants to keep everything in check.

In other news, I am having my flat valued today with the potential to sell it soon. Scary stuff, but after 2 years of being a landlord, I want rid. I seem to find the worlds pickiest tenants - I've bent over backwards to accomodate them (at great expense, in fact I probably should have just paid them to stay there) and they still want to move out early so I'm done with my stint as a property magnate. Fingers crossed I get a good valuation and a quick sale so I can be done with it.

Right, I am quite clearly off on one so I shall bid you farewell and head out into the sunshine on an industrial pant hunt. Happy Thursday people.

It's time to plan

So, after a much needed kick up the bum yesterday from Zanna (I can't thank you enough for getting me back at it, you're a star!) I've realised that I am just making too many excuses for not being completely focused. I still had a very busy social life last year and managed to lose weight, so no reason why I cannot do it this year too.

This is not a diet for me, it's got to be a way of life, or I'll spend my life yoyo-ing up and down and that's no good at all. I think I've become a bit complacent. I've lost nearly 4 stone and gone down 3 sizes on the bottom and obviously I feel a lot better about myself. The problem, I think, is I have never looked in the mirror and seen a fat person staring back at me - that's why I got to nearly 21 stone I guess. I've always been fairly confident in myself, which is good I suppose, but it doesn't help one's motivation to lose weight. However, I can feel even better about myself and be healthier, so it's time to sort it out.

I'm working from home today which is always a danger, but fortunately the fridge is fairly bare so there isn't much in the way of temptation. The Parentals are here for the next few days which will be lovely. We'll be eating out the next 2 nights, but I'm staying off the booze as quite frankly, I am sick of it. I've already taken the meals out into account when planning my next few days. So far so good.

The next thing to tackle is exercise, but I actually want to get back into it. I'm feeling lethargic and I am fairly sure that is down to complete lack movement on my behalf.

And finally - this photo has nothing at all to do with this post - but it's my new suitcase from Matt which arrived this morning (after it went on an unexplained trip to Milton Keynes) and I am completely in love so I'll share that with you all :)

Alcoholic fog

For once, I am actually fairly glad it's Monday. My weekend has been alcoholic and I am glad to be back to work so I am not forced to drink cocktails, wine or any other dodgy shots. I feel sick at the thought.

Friday night was my second birthday dinner with my friends. I didn't eat all day as was still stuffed from the Thursday night eat fest. Dinner at a local italian restaurant was lovely, but I drank a bit too much prosecco and wine. Not like me at all..... I had Anti Pasto to start followed by Roast Suckling Pig and (butter drenched) Veg. Delicious.

Saturday morning I had to be up bright and early to drive to Cardiff for a Hen do. I picked up my friend Laura at 0930 and took my car for her inaugural over night trip - she was most excited. The hen do was a good laugh, if not fairly hideous - think Pink Tutu's, Penis Necklaces, Cocktails and Shots, Dodgy 80's music and a overly short Stripper which culminated in us staying overnight in what can only be described as a Hostel full of Hen and Stags (when you ask for a triple room, you don't tend to expect a bunk bed above the double bed....) Anyhow, I digress - we had the pleasure of some very young Hen's (not with us) blasting music at 4am in the paper walled corridor of the hostel, sorry hotel. We saw the same girls at breakfast (our Hen had identified them from their shrieking) in just their underwear - it was a very classy establishment. So, not a lot of sleep, a hangover and a 2 hour drive home didn't lead to a very happy Linz.

Eating has been all over the place and not at all on plan. I'm back at it today, but my parents arrive tomorrow for a couple of nights which means more meals out and then Friday we have the wedding (of the Hen do I just attended) in Ross-on-Wye which again means no control! Ho hum, it's not easy is it?

I guess I will just be as good as I can be whenever possible. WI on Wednesday will be interesting!

I never need to eat again

Well 12 hours after the event, I am still beyond stuffed. Food last night was amazing, but we had a lot of it - and a lot of wine too.

We went for a 10 Course Surprise - so we didn't even look at the menu. Just told the waiter what we didn't like (shellfish in my case or my head swells up) and off they go and prepare a meal for you. We also decided to go for the wine pairings - which meant 10 glasses of wine - which meant a fairly drunk Linz & Matt.

It was absolutely lovely (if not VERY expensive) but it was my birthday pressie from Matt as I have been wanting to go for ages, so I am kind of able to justify it... sort of.

I had to make notes of what we ate or I knew I would forget. I wanted to take photos - but I don't think thats really the done thing in fancy restaurants. I am not overly familiar with the etiquette, but perhaps getting your phone out at every course might be frowned upon?

So here is what we consumed....
  • On arrival - Rosemary Popcorn, Houmous with Smoked Paprika and Marinated Olives. Glass of Kir Royale
  • Potato Velouté with Truffle and Chive foam, homemade bread. Glass of wine
  • Goats Cheese Mousse with mixed seeds. Glass of wine
  • Organic Salmon with Wasabi Mayonnaise and Soy Sauce. Glass of wine
  • Foie Gras with Walnuts and Caramel Jelly. Glass of wine.
  • Pan Fried Halibut with Asparagus. Glass of wine.
  • Veal Rump, Sweetbread, Pea Puree, Pommes Anna. Glass of wine
  • Selection of Cheese with Raisin Bread. Glass of White Port.
  • Mango Jelly with Coconut Foam. Glass of Fizzy Pink.
  • Poached Meringue with Strawberries and Basil Jelly. Glass of wine
  • Vanilla Cheesecake with Orange Carpaccio. Glass of wine.
  • Coffee and Petits Fours (Coconut Ice, Turkish Delight and Chocolate Meringue).
Anyone fancy pointing that little lot for me?? To be fair, they were small portions, but that's still one hell of a lot of food.

The only thing I wasn't overly fond of was the sweetbread - well actually that's a lie, it tasted nice, but when you think about what you are eating, it kind of puts you off a little bit. Especially when your boyfriend has a very perplexed look on his face. Matt was a bit traumatised after I told him what it was he had just eaten (he thought the waiter said it was truffle???!) and I couldn't stop laughing which is probably not the done thing either. Cow balls are obviously the norm in posh restaurants.

So we got home after a 4 hour eating extravaganza, very drunk and very stuffed. Lovely. I haven't had breakfast this morning as I actually cannot face food, so lunch is not looking likely. Let's hope I have some room by tonight in time for another meal out. Help!

Birthday!

Thanks for the Birthday wishes people, I still don't feel like a grown up, even at the ripe old age of 34. I am having a fairly lovely day so far - well as nice as it can be when you're actually at work.

I am doing my best to put on those 2 pounds I lost at yesterday's weigh in - and so far so good. I could gain a stone if I carry on like this.

Matt, bless him, got up early and cooked me breakfast in bed (Matt never cooks - in fact I am not sure he knows how to work the hob, but he seemed to work it out today). It was a healthy breakfast, but still more than I would normally eat of a week day (bearing in mind the 10 course meal tonight!). So in theory I should have been set up for the day.

However, I then brought this small selection of tit bits into the office.

Fairly large mistake as my willpower is practically zero, I keep telling myself calories don't count on your birthday. I allowed myself one of each - but then I ate about 4 of each anyway and now feel extremely sick. They seem to be shouting at me everytime I walk past - they are fairly persistant little buggers. I may have to invest in some ear plugs for the rest of teh afternoon.

I've tried to negate the damage of the cakes with an Innocent Veg Pot at my friend Sarahs at lunch time and a hold of her 2 week old baby - which made my arm ache so I think that counts as exercise.

I'm also wearing a dress today, so you can tell it's a special occaison. This is one of the many dresses I bought for the weddings which was not suitable, but I liked it anyway, so I am sporting it with a legging and a cardie to hide my many sins. I actually feel fairly ladylike for once. It definitely looks better on me when you cannot see my Yorkshire Pudding knees.

So (much) more eating and much drinking to come. I'll probably have to roll into work tomorrow in my barrel like state. But what the heck, it's my Birthday! I'll worry about it tomorrow.

WI Wednesday

So I am pleased to report the scales moved - after 2 weeks away from my 'official' weigh in, I have lost 2 whole pounds. I think shaving my legs in the shower this morning contributed to the weight loss, every little helps.

Actually, I am really pleased with that - I am not sure it's deserved given I have exceeded points on a fairly regular basis and barely moved (apart from walking in Amsterdam). I need to be extra good this week - I think that's highly likely to be an impossibility.

Tomorrow, I may have mentioned, is my birthday and I am commiserating turning 34 in style. Matt is taking me out for a very fancy dinner - a tasting menu which is apparently 10 courses. I think I need to starve myself all day in preparation. However, one small stumbling block prior to that is I am meeting a friend for lunch. I am just popping to hers as she's a new Mum (2 week old Isobel), but I can't really expect dust and water, which is what I should be existing on in preparation for a 10 course meal. How does one consume that amount of food??

Friday night, 10 of us are off for dinner (there is a theme here) to a really nice Italian Restaurant who do mammoth portions of gorgeous food. Ho Hum. I probably won't drink loads however as I've an early start on Saturday. I'm off to Cardiff for a hen do - which involves Cocktail Making and Dinner and no doubt copious amounts of alcohol. Not to mention pink t-shirts and tutu's.

Sunday I may well come home and hibernate.

Work has been awful today, I've had the headache from hell and a load of hassle from not very appreciative people. I've not slept well for the past 3 nights, so I am hopeful tonight I will be knocked out - a couple of gins may assist perhaps? I need a lot of energy for the next few days. I am exhausted just thinking about it!

Catch up

Hello people, it's been a little while. The end of last week passed in a non too stressful if not, extremely busy manner.

Thursday night I met friends at a pub in Esher - but they didn't serve food which was somewhat annoying as I ended up with a very classy packet of Pork Scratchings for my dinner washed down with copious Lime and Soda. So I came in on points, but in a fairly unhealthy way.

Friday we flew off to Amsterdam and had a fab weekend. Lots and lots of walking was done, lots of alcohol was consumed and a fair amount of food. I obviously didn't count points all weekend, but I am convincing myself that walking for hours on both Saturday and Sunday may have negated the damage of Pancakes (AMAZING), Bitterballen and a club sandwich and Steak and Chips amongst the other less memorable items I consumed. I also managed to buy a few bits for my friend's hen do at the end of the month - you can imagine the classy items I purchased. I was somewhat worried that the security screening would pick out the various male appendage shaped items (think cake tin and pepper pot) in my holdall, but I guess they are used to that carry on and no eyelids batted. Matt was refusing to associate with me at that point - just in case I had to explain myself. Doesn't every woman long for a pepper pot in the shape of part of the male anatomy?? Perhaps not.

I am a bit scared of the scales this week but my brain seems to have clicked back into WW mode this morning so I am hoping I can get a shifty on with this weight loss business. It's been 2 weeks since my last weigh in and my hormonal scales don't seem to have a clue what is going on. I tried on my latest attempt at a wedding outfit last night and it was beyond hideous. It's spurred me on a bit to try and get a few more pounds off as I am in danger of looking like the Michelin Man in satin.

This week will, however, be challenging. Thursday is my birthday so I have nights out on Thursday and Friday (involving dinner) and then Saturday, I am off to Cardiff for another hen do. In fact the rest of the month looks pretty ridiculous. Can someone please send me a massive dose of willpower??

Oooh and also - thanks to everyone for commenting on my last post about my car. I am officially in love with it - I'm like a proud mother :)

Happy!

So Ladies and Gentlemen, after my last post full of frustration, yesterday was a good day. I am now the proud owner of a new car - see how shiny and red it is? Clearly I cannot afford it, but needs must and all that! I love it - hopefully this will be a little bit more reliable than the heap of junk which broke down on me more times than I care to remember.

I also managed to get my iphone yesterday which should also assist with my bad back, as I will no longer be carrying a brick around in my handbag. However, that didn't go overly smoothly and resulted in me somehow deleting every phone number I had, which was fairly clever. For a girl who works in IT, I am a complete technophobe in real life!

I weighed myself on the hormonal scales at home and they showed me to be 3 pounds lighter than I was last week, but we'll be taking that with a large pinch of salt - a bag of salt perhaps.

Busy few days ahead, meeting friends tonight and supposed to be staying over at one of their's in Twickenham. However, me and Matt are off to Amsterdam tomorrow straight from work and I've managed a complete fail on the packing front so I am not really sure how that one is going to work out. I may have to come home later and do a bit of late night panic packing or pop home tomorrow lunchtime and do the same.

Food wasn't overly good yesterday, I didn't eat a lot all day and then we ended up out last night ordering a Wetherspoons Sharing Platter, ho hum, a plate of deep fried goods. Healthy!

So back on the straight and narrow with food today. As I keep saying, one baby step at a time. Enjoy the sunshine if you have it.

Frustrations

Today has been one of those days. Food has gone well, possibly because my energy has been focused elsewhere and I have been a massive ball of frustration. Nothing major I hasten to add, just minor things which have all come together to really bloody annoy me.

Forgive me if this descends into a major rant.

This morning started off well when I popped to my friendly local corner shop to collect my latest parcel from Very. My latest attempt at getting the dress situation for weddings sorted. Armed with my confirmation of my account number, the email stating my parcel was available for collection and photo ID. The guy gave me 2 parcels, proceeded to tap something into his useless computer and then told me there were no parcels for me to collect.... Erm excuse me, what are these I have in my hands?? "Well sorry madam but they aren't for you".... well clearly they bloody well are you numpty as that's my blooming name on them and I've just shown you my driving licence with my face on it. "Sorry madam but I don't know you." Well no, but that's why I have shown you my ID?? After 10 minutes of arguing he practically wrestled them from me and I stormed off - minus said dresses. Gah.

Cue me driving off in Matt's very fast car (which seems like a rocket after 4 years of driving the heap of junk) and wheel spinning furiously. Don't tell Matt, he's a bit precious about it. Thankfully he was tucked up in bed at home still feeling very sorry for himself so he'll be none the wiser.

In order to sort out the car situation, I've tried to increase the limit on one of my credit cards by a measley £500. I called Barclaycard Customer Services on Saturday to request the increase and was told I'd have an answer within 48 hours. Today arrived and no phone call, so I call them again, to be told I'd have an answer within 48 hours. Well that's not bloody useful is it really since I needed the answer 24 hours ago. So now I have to attempt to pay for the new car on a credit card and couple together a bit of cash. It's that or try and pay on a variety of cards and look like a right numpty. Surely £500 is not worth them even worrying about? Gah number 2.

And then stupidly, I tried to upgrade my phone to an iPhone since it's the end of my contract and I can upgrade for free. Except in the shop they gave me the phone and then took it back off me telling my free iPhone was going to cost me £89. Well thanks very much, that doesn't appear to be overly free. There seems to be a theme today with people giving me stuff and then taking it back.... After 20 minutes on hold to Vodafone customer services, apparently I can upgrade for nothing... just the computer keeps saying NO. Gah number 3.

And I won't even start with the 32 minutes I was on hold to my car insurance company.

And breathe.....

Sorry people, I feel somewhat better for that.

Like I say food has been really good today. I'll spare you the photos since I've not eaten anything overly exciting. Crumpets with Peanut Butter for breakfast, Lunch was a Jacket Potato with Tuna, Spring Onions and reduced fat Salad Cream and an Apple. Dinner was a turkey stir fry. All good, if not a little dull. I am seriously craving chocolate right now, but we don't have any in the house and I am far too lazy to go out and get some so I shall manage to resist that temptation.

I am working from home tomorrow as I've an early start and I am hopefully going to pick up my new car - which means no WI for the second week. It's a bit of a worry really as I tend to go a bit off the rails if I can't get to WI consistently. I can have a go on my home scales, but they can vary by 6 pounds depending on what mood they are in. I guess I'll just have to keep plodding on with my baby steps and hope for the best.

So dear readers, hopefully tomorrow I won't be given a shiny new car, only to have it wrestled back off me and hopefully the scales will be a little bit kind. Let's hope they are in a good mood.
