Lovely food and a stress filled day

Just a quick post as I am having a really stressy work day which is causing me to tear my hair out, not what you need on a Friday! The upside is, I've been so busy, I've barely thought about food, which is something normally occupying my mind constantly.

Talking of food, dinner at the Boxwood Cafe last night was absolutely amazing. We had an early table booked at 6pm so I'd had a late breakfast and no lunch in preparation for a gastronomic delight. As a result I was completely starving by the time we arrived, the G&T and Champagne Cocktail on arrival probably weren't the best idea I have ever had as I felt somewhat fuzzy headed when being shown to the table. I polished off a couple of (miniscule) warm rolls whilst perusing the menu to try and line the stomach a bit. We got a little starter of Pumpkin soup from the Chef which was amazing - I imagine full of cream as it tasted fairly gorgeous. I then opted for a pea and leek tart for starter (so cheesey and gorgeous) and Chicken Milanese for main. Both completely lush. No dessert for me, but much wine. Ooooops. So I reckon even with my Spinning and banked points, I am facing a defecit of around 8 points. Should be able to get that back at some point, although tomorrow may add to that!

A friend from home is arriving tonight so I really need to leave work on time to pick her up, but I am sat here waiting for our India team to get back to me on something that "HAS" to be installed today. Why does everything suddenly become an urgency at 1530 on a Friday?

Pub tonight but no alcohol and something light if we do eat out, I am feeling stuffed today and I am not really sure why. Stress causing my stomach to rebel perhaps!

Have a good weekend all!

Scale disbelief

3.5lbs off!! After yesterday's sneaky peak and Yo-Yo status, I wasn't overly confident - especially given I've been a few points over this week and indulged in a few too many alcohol points. Get me!

So that's 52lbs now gone. I'm doing a little jiggy happy dance which isn't overly becoming. 7lbs off in 2 weeks - almost unheard of for me!

I am determined to try and continue to be as good as I can. Tomorrow is Matt's birthday and we're off to Gordon Ramsay's Boxwood Cafe for dinner as they've a special offer on. I've already salivated over the menu and I can't see how I can be overly good! Plan is to go Spinning tonight (yuck) and bank as many points as I can in preparation. We've also got a lunch on Saturday with a load of friends which is likely to be a boozy affair - more point banking required. But I am feeling completely and utterly positive at the moment, I am even relishing a bit of exercise tonight.

I wonder if aliens have invaded my body, it's amazing what a couple of good weeks in a row can do for your mental state. Long may it continue.

Scale YoYo

I made it to the gym last night but my enthusiasm was somewhat lacking. I find Monday's a struggle at the best of times - just getting out of bed is an effort especially when the weather is dreary, whoever decided we should work a 5 day week and have 2 days off was mental. Surely it should be the other way round.

The gym was packed as per the Monday night norm. It's so frustrating and I end up wasting my time wandering around waiting for machines instead of just getting on with my workout so I spend twice as long doing half as much. I think I need to go swimming or attend a class on a Monday from now on.

Dinner was random, I'd taken steak out of the freezer so had that but was really craving rice and veg with curry sauce for some reason - so that became my side dish, I appear to have an addiction to Bisto Chip Shop Curry Sauce at the moment. Worrying. I ended up banking 5 points which still leaves me with 7 to make up - most unlikely today I think but not the end of the world.

One other pleasantry yesterday - after weeks of trying, I've finally managed to find myself a pair of Slouch fit jeans in a size 20. Nothing majorly exciting clearly but it had become somewhat of a mission. Nowhere seems to have this style anymore, and I am all for the skinny jean, but with my thighs, you sometimes just need something a bit more roomy. Good old Matalan came up trumps. I was cursing in Next as they sell up to a size 24 - but not in store. Clearly they don't want fat bottomed women cluttering their ailses.

I had a little bit of scale trauma this morning, I hopped on to see if there was any movement - and there was, 4lbs up. Cue me running around the bathroom in some sort of mad woman fashion and proclaiming a deep hatred for my body. Jumped back on and I was only 2lbs up. Still mad woman stylee. Stomped off to the shower and decided to give the scales another go - same weight I was last week. WTF is that all about?? These are WW scales and they hadn't moved in between my flailing around - unless of course all my stomping caused me to shed a few pounds. So not sure what to expect tomorrow really. Fingers crossed the scales are kind.

Off to my friend's house for dinner tonight but she has promised me WW friendly fare so all should be good. One day at a time etc. etc.

Another weekend, another defecit

I managed to recover from the hangover from hell and lack of sleep on Friday and force myself to meet Matt after work for a quick Lime and Soda - no booze for me thank you. The gym didn't happen, but I did manage a couple of rounds of Just Dance on the Wii in order to energise my lazy self. Homemade pizzas for dinner and a couple of films and it was a perfect Friday night for my hungover self.

Saturday, I actually slept in until 10am which is completely unheard of for me. I must have been in dire need of sleep after the poisoning of my body on Thursday night. Did 30 minutes on the treadclimber at the gym which felt really good along with some more exercises to try and sort out the knee. All in all, a fairly good start to the day. Drove up to the Midlands and grabbed a low fat sarnie from Tesco for the jounrey, you could see my halo shining a mile off. We spent a few hours with Matt's brother who seems to be in fairly good spirits despite being housebound for the forseeable future and then we headed over to our hotel. Dinner at the Bilash Restaurant in Wolverhampton was totally amazing - if you are ever around that area you should try it. The portions were fairly small and I reckon I just about came in on points food wise as I had Chicken Shaslick, a tiny spoonful of Lamb Curry and a bit of Naan - it was the alcohol that caused the issues. A few glasses of wine and couple of Amarettos to finish saw me 6 points over. I never learn do I?

Yesterday wasn't much better, we had breakfast at the hotel but I didn't really eat much of it as I was still feeling really full from the night before so a bit of bacon and a slice of toast for me. I then had an unfortunate incident mid afternoon with a Krispy Kreme doughnut and a Croissant which cost me a staggering 15 points. Clever or what? Dinner was Roast Chicken with Veg and a few chips cooked in the Tefal Actifry - it's first outing since I got it for Xmas. Most impressed - 'proper' chips for minimal points.

So here we are at Monday with a 12 point defecit. I've planned 18 points worth of food for the day (I get 26) and I am planning to hit the gym later - although Monday's at the gym are hideous as the world and his wife seems to feel the need to work out. Anyway, no excuses, I shall be there, even if I have to queue for the carpark and all of the machines.

Hoepfully I'll make up the defecit by Wednesday, but I am not hopeful for that 1.5lbs off to get to 50lbs. I seem to feel the need to sabotage myself every time I near a milestone. One day at a time though, so long as I don't gain this week, I'll be happy.

So today will be a good day, although the guy behind me is currently polishing off a Samosa for breakfast and the smell is killing me. I am currently channelling all of my energy into not stealing it from him. My Muller Light and an apple just isn't doing it for me. Harumph. PMA etc. etc.

Self inflicted struggle

I am struggling today as I very wisely used my 12 points last night on Wine, instead of the Poached Salmon Salad I was going to have. Not very clever am I? Met my friend after work and we popped to her local - where I had 2 lime and sodas as I was driving... very sensible. Then we decided we fancied a drink, so I drove us into town as it's half way between our houses - abandoned my car and ended up consuming the best part of a bottle and a half of wine. Oh dear.

I got home around 1am and Matt ever so kindly got up at 6am this morning which meant I woke up too. Ouch. I then had to get ready at breakneck speed so Matt could drop me off at my abadoned car which was thankfully still in one piece. I caught sight of myself in the mirror after I'd been at work for a few hours and I clearly applied my make with my eyes shut, I look like a cross between Lilly Savage and Aunt Sally.

I feel really hungry so far, but I've managed to limit myself. Porridge for breakfast with skimmed milk and 2 babybel lights. Lunch has been a roll with Roast Beef and Salad and a packet of crips but I want more food! I'm drinking loads of water to try and flush out the evil alcohol. I am going to the gym tonight, but not going to do Spinning, I think I'd hurl on the handlebars. A leisurely 20 minutes on the treadclimber and then some more leg weights I think since my thighs seem to be less painful.

Going to make Pizzas tonight so I can be reasonably healthy with that. I need to try and bank a few points for tomorrow as well. Talk about making life difficult for yourself. Silly girl.

Lead legs

So apparently its overkill to do 100 repititions of all of the leg weight machines at the gym - especially after you've just done 20 minutes on the tread climber. No bloody wonder I can barely walk. I never use those weight machine things (and I've no common sense) so I just kept on going until it was too hard to continue. So my inner thighs, outer thighs and just generally every part of my thigh is screaming at me still. Needless to say I didn't make Spinning last night given I am actually finding it fairly difficult to even use the blooming toilet. Who'd have thought a few little leg squeezes could inflict so much pain.

Instead of Spinning last night, I opted for the pub. A fair swap I think you'll agree. I had 2 Vodkas with Slimline tonic and opted for Roasted Rump of Lamb with Veg and a Red Wine sauce. If I'd have stopped there all would have been good - but Matt ordered cheese for dessert (I ordered NOTHING) and I couldn't resist picking at bits off his plate. Grrr - so 3.5 over for yesterday, but I am fairly confident I can get that back with a bit of exercise at some point. Cheese is officially evil.

I bought the below top yesterday in an attempt to stop the constant black. It's a size 16 which is a bit of an NSV, I pretty much always buy at least an 18 and when they didn't have that yesterday I automatically picked up the 20 - I guess I need to realise I am actually getting a bit smaller! I also bought a pair of jeans in the Evans sale - I am now officially fitting easily into size 20 which is still huge but given I was in a size 24 (and sometimes a 26) at the start of last year, I guess it's progress . It's good to start noticing a difference in my clothes even if I can't see one in the mirror.

Meeting a friend for dinner tonight but I've already decided to go for a Salad of some description and I've 12 points left so I reckon all should be good.

Plan is to go Spinning tomorrow if I've regained the use of my thighs and then cook a healthy alternative to the Friday Night Takeaway. Off to Wolverhampton on Saturday to see Matt's Incapacitated Brother(I am refusing to clean for him this weekend!) so we'll be spending the night in a hotel and heading out for a curry at a really nice restaurant. I am already planning to eat as much low or zero pointed food as I can during the day so I can enjoy my meal. Planning is definitely required me thinks.

Really want that 1.5 off this week to get that 50lb loss, I've been trying to get it for blooming months!

Wednesday, 17 February 2010

Back in the game

Fanbloodytastic! I lost 3.5 pounds this week which takes me back to my lowest weight before Xmas, back to 48.5 pounds off. The food diary, although somewhat tedious, definitely helped me stay on track and focus on making better choices. If you are struggling, give it a go.

So the aim for this week is to get 1.5lbs off, to reach my 50lbs gone. I've a couple of nights out planned, but not as much on as this past week so fingers crossed I can do it.

My legs are like lead today after the gym last night, I literally had to crawl out of bed this morning. I was going to go Spinning tonight but I am not sure I'll manage. I've booked in so I'll see how the day progresses... talking myself out of it already!

Food for the day is planned and should see me banking a couple of points. It's good to feel back in control.

End of the WW week

I feel shattered today, all this water and liquid is taking it's toll and I am finding myself getting up 2-3 times a night to go to the loo. Not good. I am going to have to stop drinking after 8pm at night to see if that helps.

Another fairly good day food wise, but feeling slightly nervous about WI tomorrow. I had a sneaky peek at the scales this morning and they looked positive - but they showed a loss last week and WW disagreed so I'll not read too much into that. Managed to haul myself to the gym as well and did 20 minutes on the treadclimber and 20 minutes of weights (attempting to sort out the crunchy knee). Not exactly brilliant, but its a start - here's proof that I went to the gym.... (admittedly it could be me looking ropey outside of any building but its me after being in the gym - honest!)

So here's how my food went today.

Breakfast

Roll with 2 slices of Bacon (5)

Lunch

At local Italian Deli - Pasta with grilled Vegetable and Tomato Sauce and Parmesan (8)

Mid Afternoon

Packet of Marmite Crisps (2) and some Love Hearts which were snaffled before photo was taken (1.5)

Spent all day trying to avoid this - not easy as en route to the kitchen!

Dinner

Large Chicken Breast stuffed with Boursin Light and dipped in Breadcrumbs mixed with parmesan and parsley (5.5)
Mixed Salad and a little bit of extra light salad cream (0.5)

22.5/26 so the defecit from the weekend should be gone.

Wish me luck for tomorrow. I may well cry if I don't lose!

Nearly there

You'll be pleased to know my week of being a food bore is coming to an end. Tomorrow is the last day of my week before WI on Wednesday and I am hopeful for a loss. Typically it's the wrong time of the month, so I could still be frustrated by the scales - here's hoping not. I am drinking enough water to sink a ship in a bid to banish the bloat. This food diary definitely helps to keep you on track though, it may have to be a regular feature every time I struggle.... every week then.... just a little joke :)

Arrived at work this morning to discover the lifts are out of action - so I've walked up 5 flights of stairs twice today. There is nothing like a bit of stair climbing to make you realise you are still incredibly unfit. I had to stand outside the office for a few minutes to regain my composure so I didn't walk in sounding like a wheezing dog. Not good. I almost decided to stay in the office at lunch time as I couldn't face the trek back up the stairs, but I forced myself.

Food for today has been blooming good for me. I am trying to make up for the weekend and a slight defecit, so here is today's saintly menu packed full of veggie goodness:

Breakfast

Porridge with raisins and 160ml of skimmed Milk (3) and a cuppa.

Lunch

Innocent Veg Pot - Thai Curry (5.5). These are fairly good as they contain 3 of your 5 a day all in one go - bargain. Fairly tasty too although this one was a bit too much lemongrass overkill for me.
Packet of Marmite Crisps (2) - Heaven. Note to self : Do not buy Multipacks when trying to be good as they were calling me all bloody afternoon. "Oh Linz, you have the points come and savour some of my marmitey tastiness...."
Litre of Water

Mid Afternoon

Crisps still calling me to I tried to drown them out with a cup of Homemade Butternut Squash, Sweet Potato and Red Pepper Soup (0.5) - Even more Veg!

More water, a Dr Pepper Zero and numerous teas and coffees = 5000 trips to the loo.

Dinner

Homemade Lasagne (7.5) (with yet more veg - mushrooms, onions, leeks, tomatoes)
Salad - more veg!
1/2 bread roll toasted with Lurpak garlic butter - kind of garlic bread but easier and less points (2)

Thats 20/26. Good work Miss M. I'm still struggling a bit to get my head in the game with the exercise business. I'm making a conscious effort to walk places where possible, but the gym is still lacking much appeal. I am going to force myself to go tomorrow as my plans have now changed. Was due to meet a friend in London but he's asked to rearrange which is no bad thing. Eating out 4 times in one week is somewhat excessive and detrimental to one's never ending weight loss quest. Saying that however, I am meeting a friend from work for lunch tomorrow, so I think it'll have to be salad for me. I'll arm myself with some more soup in case of emergencies.

Valentines Day

I'm shattered today given I spent the night with the truffle pig - he woke up on the sofa at 0130 and came crashing into the bedroom and proceeded to snore at an alarming rate. You can imagine I was loving that. Although I have to admit he did himself proud today - no last minute trip to the garage for him. I got tulips (my favourite flowers) a balloon and a bottle of pink Champagne. Bless him. Fickle creature that I am, I've almost forgotten the lack of sleep and the football hooligan incidents.

A little glass of the champers while I got ready - how decadent.

So I had it in my head I needed to be good today, I did 25 minutes of Cardio this morning which earnt me 2.5 BPs and we walked to and from the restaurant which is about 1.5 miles in total. Better than nowt I suppose.

Breakfast

The aim was to forgoe breakfast since we'd be having a LARGE lunch but I was starving after exercising so I had a little snack

1 slice of toast with reduced fat peanut butter and a skinny latte (3)

Lunch

We went to my favourite restaurant which does the best food - I knew I'd struggle to be overly good but since Matt was aiming to be romantic, I thought I'd just bloody well enjoy myself so......

I started with Fish Fritters with chilli jam - fairly small and not really greasy - reckon about 4 points - probably loads more but what the heck....

Then I had Roast Sirloin of Beef with Roast Potatoes and Yorkshire Pudding - totally divine! I reckon 10 ish points for this, look at all that veg.....

Dessert was the cheese board which Matt did help me with, I only had 2 of the crackers (hmmmm, not sure I saved much there) and probably a third of the cheese - 8 points maybe?

This was washed down with 2 glasses of Prosecco and 2 double Amarettos (8) and a little bit of water.

So not the best day ever, I reckon I'm now facing a defecit of 6 for the week, but I can fairly easily make that up over the next couple of days. I am stuffed so I won't need anything else to eat tonight but I do have a pan of Butternut squash soup ready just in case.

So as usual the weekend hasn't been the best for me, but doing this food diary has really helped me focus and make slighty better choices than I would do normally. I am really hopeful for a bit of a loss this week, I'll have a fairly low point day tomorrow and get some exercise in and job should hopefully be a good 'un.

Hope you've all had a good one!

Not such a good day

I was full of good intentions today, despite the footy and the potential for much alcohol to be involved, but despite trying really hard, I'm still fairly over points for today. Sometimes it's just really hard to be good. I didn't drink half as much as I would normally - or even close to what everyone around me consumed but I still managed to exceed my points. Bugger.

Exercise for today is the sum total of a 1 mile walk... we were offered a lift which we turned down so at least that's something.

Was bloody cold at the football, plus we had to sit in the Reading end with a load of Matt's friends who are obviously Reading fans as we couldn't get tickets in the away end. I was so nervous that Matt would get carried away if West Brom scored, but he managed to be on his best behaviour for most of the game thankfully. He just turned into a drunken hooligan after the game - why anyone thinks I need to hear 200 renditions of "We can't hear the Reading sing" in the most souless monotone voice, I'll never know. 2 - 2 was the final score which means a replay at West Brom next Wednesday, if Matt's planning to attend that, he's on his own!

He's currently passed out on the sofa and snoring like a truffle pig, so at least I'll get the bed to myself tonight. I've just recorded him as he won't believe the racket he is currently making, I can barely hear the tv over him. Romance isn't dead in this house.

So here's today's consumption...

Breakfast

Skinny Hazelnut Latte made with Skimmed Milk and Sugar Free Syrup (0.5)

11:30 am - Bacon and Egg Roll and Fruit Salad and a milky coffee at Matt's friends house before the footy (9)

Lunch

1/3 portion of Chips at the footy at half time. Unfortunately healthy options aren't in abundance (3??).

Dinner

Antipasto shared with Matt - 2 slices of parma ham(1.5), 1/2 slice of Halloumi Cheese (2), Olives (0.5), 1 small slice salami (1)

Parma Ham Pizza - Parma Ham and Rocket with Shavings of Parmesan on a thin crust, no other cheese and I left most of the Parmesan - I've guessed about 8 points as I left the crust and it wasn't greasy at all? I hope I'm not being overly optimistic there.....

2 Amaretto (2.5), 1 Vodka (1) and 1/2 lager (1) and 2 glasses wine (3.5) - that sounds like a lot I guess but we were out from 1230 - 2100. That's hardly anything for a booze hound like me!

That works out at 33.5/26 - I maybe earnt 1 BP from the walk, but that still leaves me 6.5 over for the day. Thankfully I had 3 banked from yesterday and some still banked from earlier in the week so I am just about breaking even. Not ideal though.

We're off for lunch tomorrow which is going to be really hard, plan is to go to the gym in the morning to earn a few BP's. If we opt for 3 courses I am going to have to make sure I am fairly full so that's all I eat all day. Might have to get some 0 point soup on the go just in case.

Wish me luck...

Day 3 and crunchy knees

I had a visit to the Osteopath last night before I met the girls as I have issues with my shoulder - years of carrying a stupidly oversized and overstuffed handbag I think. She's also been looking at my ankle which I've managed to damage on numerous occasions. Whilst I was there last night she noticed that my knee was making a pretty horrendous crunching sound when I bend... I had noticed it myself but reckoned it was nowt to concern myself with. Anyway, apparently ones knees shouldn't make that noise so I need to sort it out. I'm all out of kilter from the ankle and I need to strengthen my knees and my thighs. She told me to do a bit more leg work in the gym instead of just cardio so I need to make more of an effort on that front. I don't want to end up with some form of malformed knee or something equally as hideous... (ok... maybe a slight over reaction)

Food has been fairly good today, I am trying to bank a few points again for tomorrow if alcohol is to be involved.

Breakfast

2 Crumpets with 2 tsps butter (4.5)

Please ignore the builders table - my friend is currently without a kitchen!

Mid Morning

Cup of Coffee and an Apple (0.5)

Lunch

Went to the pub with the girls from work - whilst they all ordered burgers and chips - I went for the mushroom soup. Much food envy on my behalf it has to be said. I only had one slice of the bread and no butter... booooooo. Soup was creamless apparently - and fairly tasteless to boot! I reckon about 3.5 points based on Wetherspoons Mushroom soup which is 2.5 without bread and butter..

Mid afternoon

Starving after that tasteless soup episode. A cup of manky tea (I am out of Red Bush tea bags so using the machine) and a WW Triple Chocolate Bar, plus the other 13g of Lemon Salted Almonds from Wednesday which I snaffled before I managed to photograph (2.5 points for both). Knee exercises from the Osteopath in the background.

Dinner

Chinese Take Away from the Kitchen of Linz....
Egg 'Fried' Rice (2.5) - Rice dry fried with mushrooms, leeks, soy sauce and an egg
Beef Curry (3) - Beef with mushrooms and onions and Sharwoods Cantonese Curry Sauce (only 3.5 for the whole jar)
Sweet Chilli Prawns (2.5) - 1/2 a box from Iceland - a bargain at £2!
Sticky Chicken (2) - Otherwise know as Diet Coke Chicken - 1 chicken breast, mushrooms, onions, diet coke, tomato sauce and worcestershire sauce and a dash of sweet chilli sauce.

Et Voila - my very own chinese buffet for a bargainous 10 points!

Normally on a Friday we eat out or get a takeaway, but in my determination to be more in control I decided to chef! I originally thought I would eat half of everything I cooked (15 points) but I really didn't need it.

Which left me enough points for a Weight Watchers Toffee Apple Crumble (3)

So 24/26 points plus 1 BP from the Wii (didn't do as much as planned as I was bloody famished). Another fairly successful day. I am on a blooming roll here people.

Food day 2

I was a lot more positive yesterday, thanks again for all of your comments on Wednesday, you lot are amazing! I think one good day on track, plus getting some exercise put me in a different frame of mind. One day at a time and I'll get there. Worked from home yesterday which I tend to find difficult as I can pop into the kitchen whenever I feel like it, but I managed to stick to my plan during the day. I'm feeling the after effects of spinning still - my nether regions feel somewhat bruised! (Sorry TMI)

So breakfast and lunch were planned but dinner was an unknown....

Breakfast

2 Hovis Best of Both toasted (2.5) with 2 tsps of Lurpak Light (1.5) 1 egg scrambled (1.5) and mushrooms.

Mid Morning

A cup of coffee with a teaspoon of Sugar free Hazelnut Syrup (lush) and 1 WW Toffee Cookie. (1)
I love Skinny Hazlenut Lattes, but most of the coffee places near me don't have Sugar Free Syrups so I started buying this, not cheap but saves me a fortune in the long run at Starbucks as you get about 100 coffees out of this bottle. There are no NV's but I googled it and the calories are minimal so a point free coffee treat. Get in!

Lunch

70g Dried Pasta (3.5 points) served with a creamy mushroom, leek and onion sauce (0.5) and 15g of Parmesan (1.5). Dry fry mushrooms, onions and leeks add a little bit of stock and simmer until reduced. Stir in a bit of parsley, salt and pepper and 30ml of Alpro Soya Single Cream (tastes very much like soya on its own, but in sauces etc adds a nice creamy texture). Large glass of water and a sugar free jelly.

Dinner

Didn't go as well as anticipated as I was out with the girls. We started off at Caroline's with some Dorito's and a glass of wine - I only had a small few as I was very conscious of not being the pig who ate them all and a very small glass of wine. I noticed that my two skinny friends didn't seem consumed by the food in front of them and only took the odd one here and there. I wish I found food that easy to resist!

We then ended up in a French restaurant. I asked the waiter for the best options from the menu and he told me none of it was healthy... helpful!

So, I had French Onion Soup but I left the best bit - i.e. the cheesey bread - not easy. Look at how tempting that is!

For main I opted for Coq Au Vin as it was the only thing that didn't seem to have cream or lashings of butter on the menu. I was told this came with "Just Veg".... well if you call extremely buttery mashed potato, french beans in a bearnaise sauce and peas with cream and bacon "Just Veg" then you'd be right! So I had half the Coq Au Vin, 1 spoonful of Mash, a spoonful of the peas and 3 beans.... Plus 2 glasses of wine. I've tried to point as best I can and I think about 22 for all of that? That uses up most of my banked points from Wednesday but still leaves me a couple to play with.

So not a disaster, but not the best ever. We're staying in tonight so I am going to cook something healthy to bank a few points for tomorrow. I've planned 30 minutes on the Wii. I did intend to go to the gym, but I stayed over in Twickenham last night and hadn't packed my gym kit (obviously an oversight and not a deliberate attempt at sabotaging myself!!) I know for a fact I won't go home and get it then head back out.

Tomorrow we are off to the footy to watch Reading v West Brom. Matt is over the moon to have a game in Reading for once. I think it is shaping up to be a fairly boozy day, but I am not overly up for drinking a skinful so hopefully I won't stray too far off track! Wish me luck :)

Food accountability

First of all, thank you everyone who commented on my last post. I guess I do need to stop beating myself up over my lack of progress and celebrate what I have achieved so far. I don't normally look in the mirror and see a fat person (which is why I got so big in the first place!), but today has really been a fat day. Ho hum, tomorrow I will be more cheerful, I promise.

Today has been a good day by my standards - especially on a Wednesday.

Breakfast

Paw Ridge Porridge Oats with 160 ml of Skimmed Milk and a snack pack of raisins (2.5 points). Red Bush Tea and a bottle of water.

Mid morning snack

120g of Pineapple from my Graze Box (0.5 points)

Lunch

Toasted Sandwich made with 2 slices of Hovis Best of Both, American Mustard, Onion, Red Pepper, 1.5 Slices of Thin Roast Beef and an Asda Low Fat Cheese slice (4.5 points).

This sandwich was blooming lovely! I totally recommend toaster bags for making a quick toastie at work (if you have a toaster of course!)

Packet of Hula Hoops (2 Points) and a can of Dr Pepper Zero

Mid Afternoon

Weight Watchers Triple Chocolate Bar and a cup of Red Bush Tea (1.5 points) and 13g of Graze Lemon Salted Almonds (1). I actually weighed these almonds on the scales in the post room at work, no messing about with me today.

Dinner

2 Asda Low Fat Sausages (2.5 points) 200g Potato Mashed with a Butter Buds sachet and a splash of Skimmed Milk (2) 1/2 Can of Mushy Peas (1.5) Bisto Gravy (1.5) 2 Aunt Bessies Yorkshire Puddings (1.5) and dry fried Onions.

Thats 21/26 points consumed plus 6.5 earned from 45 minutes of Spinning allowing me to bank 10.5 points.... I'll have to consume that other one as I'd hate to lose it....

Spinning tonight was the crazy lady again, I found it really hard going being up and down every 8 seconds or so, the woman is nuts. I think I may be in considerable pain later.

I'm working from home tomorrow as I've a 6am start and then meeting friends for dinner in Twickenham so a bit of self restraint is required as I've a fairly busy weekend too. I am feeling a lot more positive though, so here's to another good one tomorrow. I am sickening myself with this goody two shoes attitude :)

WI

Half a pound on. I am so bloody annoyed with myself. I know half a pound isn't a disaster, but I am back at the same weight I was on the 3rd November. So effectively I have wasted 3 months messing around and not really focussing. Stupid Girl.

I think I needed it though, I am now determined to make this week a good one. I am going Spinning tonight, even if it is the crazy lady. I've planned my food for the day and I will post photos later so I am not tempted to console myself with savoury snacks.

My friend sent me a picture from last week of me and her little boy - I think I have been deluding myself that 3.5 stone of weight loss has been enough and that I now look ok - I am bloody mental! Horrible photo as I am huge, but if I stick it on here, it might remind me of what I am trying to achieve.

Right then, enough of the self deprication, this week wil be amazing and I will be reporting a loss of huge proportions next week.... Ahem.

Back later with the food accountability business.

WI worries

Despite not having had the worst week ever, I am dreading the scales tomorrow. I think my lack of exercise is preying on my mind so I really need to kick myself firmly up my more than ample behind and get myself back into a routine. I seem to have gotten myself into a lazy cow routine and it's just not working.

I think I am going to have to do the Photo Food Diary again this week as I found that really helped me stay on track. It's amazing how easily one can 'forget' exactly what has been consumed. I'd better get planning my food for the next week so I can impress and amaze you all with my healthy choices and freshly prepared meals. Ahem.

Last night I had to attend our Residents Company AGM (yawn) which meant I spent 2 hours sat by a table laden with Cheese Straws, Sausage Rolls, Pork Pies, Crisps and Chocolate Digestives... not to mention wine and more wine. And when I say sat by it - I mean literally right next to it - within grabbing distance. That took some serious will power to restrain myself. I'd cooked myself a big bowl of pasta with creamy mushroom sauce before heading to the meeting so I wasn't hungry at all - I had to keep reminding myself of this as everyone around me kept reaching for the goodies.

Fingers crossed the scales are kind tomorrow and prepare to be dazzled by my food consumption for the week!

Dinner with the man in drag and other randomness

I've been a bit quiet of late due to work being ridiculous along with life in general being hectic. Thursday was a fairly good day points wise and I managed to bank a few which is always a bonus. Matt had been suffering the dreaded man flu so he was fairly hard work for a few days. You can imagine the trauma he was in. Poor fella. (Note the sarcasm there).

Friday tried to throw me off track in the form of an office lunch - i.e. Pizzas delivered to the office for us all to share. I'd pointed soup and a roll for lunch which was a fairly hefty 7 points (it was a bloody big roll) so I was able to swap that for a couple of miniscule slices of pizza without causing too much trauma. The desire to eat more than those two slices was somewhat difficult it has to be said, but I managed it without too much trauma, although I did nearly find myself licking the empty pizza boxes later - ok, I am joking but you get my drift. Pizza is the work of the devil.

Friday night, I missed Spinning which was totally down to the stresses of work and me still being stuck in the office long after I should have gone home. Not ideal, but I did force myself to do a bit of Wii "Just Dance" when I got in to half heartedly make up for my lack of Friday night torture with the Crazy Lady of Spin.

Saturday we drove up to the Midlands to sort out Matt's brothers house as he's decided he wants to look after himself when he eventually gets discharged from hospital. Apparently Matt and his mother are competing over who can do the most for him and he doesn't need it - what a load of tosh. The painkillers he is on must be seriously affecting his brain - we offered to have him stay, but I can't say it was top of my list of wants for the month of Feb! Grrrrr.

Anyway, I digress, the man is a disgrace, I don't think his house has been cleaned in the 7 years he's owned and I spent a good few hours removing mould from the kitchen sink. Not overly pleasant, I won't even go into the horror that was his bathroom - but needless to say I had to visit the local Burger King to use the loo - it was that bad. I am going to give him a fairly stern talking to once he is feeling less sorry for himself. Kim and Aggie would have had a field day. How clean is your house?? Not very.

Fortunately we'd booked ourselves into a really nice hotel near Stafford which made up for the earlier cleaning frenzy. We'd booked a table in the fairly posh restaurant and upon getting ready to head down there, Matt discovered his shirt was still hanging on our bedroom door some 150 miles away. Now given we'd spent the morning cleaning, Matt was wearing his "Mr Lazy" T-shirt which he normally wears to sleep in (and actually had worn the previous night for bed) he'd brought nothing else with him. Obviously we had to improvise - which lead to Matt heading down to dinner in a black V-neck dress of mine with my PJ top on back to front underneath.... I've never seen him look so uncomfy - he was convinced everyone could tell he was wearing my clothes, but I found his discomfort hilarious as you can imagine!

It ended up being one of the funniest nights I have had in a long time, mainly at Matt's expense. The food was lovely as well - I can't admit to being overly saintly, but the portions were fairly small so I don't think too much damage was done.

Yesterday was fairly lazy, we had breakfast in the hotel (full english - oops) and then drove home where I cooked a Roast Chicken with loads of veggies and then spent the rest of the day surgically attached to the sofa. I managed to come in on points again. Go me.

I really need to up the exercise this week, I seem to have developed a mental block surrounding the gym. Utterly ridiculous, I shall be dragging my sorry ass there at least 3 times this week if it kills me. Please berate me liberally if I come on here saying I've not been.

Right then, I had better crack on with some work. Hope you all had good weekends.

Spinning with the crazy lady

After an afternoon snooze, I set off to Spinning. I had zero enthusiasm and did consider 'accidentally' turning off my alarm so I missed the class.... but the thought of my fat backside got the better of me and I went. Now, given I've not been anywhere near a bike for about 2 months, I knew it wasn't going to be a pleasant experience.... that was before I encountered Satan in female form. Seriously, this woman was totally mental. "Now come on people lets warm up at level 12 - 14" Are you kidding me??? I get to level 14 when I am really working hard and it's a bloody struggle I can tell you. She had us doing manically fast press ups whilst trying to cycle on level 24 at a speed of 75 - seriously not possible for anyone other than Lance Armstrong I reckon and even then, I don't think he'd be overly impressed.

After that it was deemed a good idea to head to the pub for rehydration purposes. What is not so good is I seem to have rediscovered my ability to drink alcohol. Much vodka and wine and then tapas also seemed to make their way into my mouth. Wednesday's always seem to lead to me over indulging (along with weekends and probably most days at the minute) since it's WI day. I need to get that under a bit more control. I've changed my online tracker so Wednesday is now the last day of my week instead of the first - as I seem to have this mental issue that if I start off the week badly, it goes forever downhill. I know I am only kidding myself as a bad Wednesday will still have an impact, but hopefully I'll stay on track a bit better. Let's see anyway.

I will be saintly today, porridge with raisins and an apple for breakfast, homemade tuna pasta salad for lunch and steak and salad for dinner. Points banked and possibly a bit of Wii 'Just Dance' later. I don't think my body will forgive me if I subject it to the gym again today. If I go spinning tomorrow night and its the same woman, I may well have to excuse myself and go for a little saunter on the treadmill instead.

Driving me mad.

Half a pound off this week - given my disasters at the weekend, I am more than happy with that. I also wasn't overly good yesterday which is not ideal the day before WI.

Monday night, I left work and set about on the 30 mile journey to my friends house for dinner. Imagine my complete and utter joy when her hubby called me when I was about 3 miles from their house to say that my friend wasn't feeling well and would I mind cancelling..... Grrrr well no I wouldn't, as it can't be helped, but you surely could have given me a little bit more notice. So I turned round and drove home, just what you need on a Monday night, a 60 mile pointless trip and an hour sat in traffic not moving at all.

Yesterday I had an early start for work (6am) so was at home. I was nibbly all day and then stupidly watched This Morning where they made Carbonara.... that was me salivating and craving Carbs and Cream for the rest of the day, fortunately the fridge was bare of cream (or bacon for that matter) so I couldn't do too much damage. I finished work at 130pm and drove over to North London to visit another friend who was over from Prague visiting her parents. Was lovely to catch up as I've not seen her since her Wedding in Prague last Easter and she's managed to produce a son in that time. She did tempt me with some homemade Paneer Samosa's upon arrival which weren't part of the plan, but I managed to deflect the invitation to sample the Keema curry (which I completely love I hasten to add). Dinner was already planned and made, so I knew if I ate curry, I'd probably still go home and have some Shepherds Pie!

So that was a 90 mile round trip for me yesterday, I am done with driving all around the South to catch up with people for this week. The only problem is, I find now that most of my friends have children or are in serious relationships, if I don't make the effort and drive over, I don't see them. I'm not sure that's how it should be really, but I guess it's my choice at the end of the day. Ho Hum.

Another 6am start today but I came into the office so I could go to WI. I'm off at 130pm again so I'll probably have to get myself back to bed as I feel utterly exhausted. I've booked into Spinning tonight and I am determined to make it this time, as painful as it may be.

We are off to the Midlands at the weekend to see Matt's brother, we were supposed to be spending the weekend in Plymouth with friends, but Matt's mother appears to be struggling to cope with even the thought of caring for her son so we're going to have to go up there and see what's what. I think its odds on he'll be coming back down here with us on Sunday so I'd better sort out the spare room and get used to the idea of having a house guest for a few months. I get cabin fever when we have guests for a few days, I'm a bit of a Monica from Friends regarding tidiness and cleaning - totally OTT, so I am going to have to try and relax a little bit!

I'm clearly cranky and tired today, I think I need a lie down.

Weekend

Friday, I set off for Spinning with all the enthusiasm of a dead fish - I'd worked from home so I left reasonably early to make sure I got there in time. Now, bear in mind the gym is about 4 miles from home and the class starts at 1815, so if I leave at 1715, I should make it in time?? No chance, Friday night traffic is a bloody nightmare. I sat still in a complete and utter jam for 45 minutes, about 1 mile from home. This obviously led to an extremely big huff on my part and me eventually turning around to go home.

Clearly I could have decided to carry on to the gym and do something else instead, or perhaps head home and do a bit of Wii Fit, but I thought the best option was to go to the pub and attempt to get back on the alcohol. Healthy or what?? Fortunately I only managed 2 vodka's before I felt I'd had enough - so that's progress of sorts. We ended up in the Indian restuarant opposite the pub, but we'd been planning a takeaway so I had plenty of points available and I really didn't eat that much (by my standards anyway).

Saturday we got up and walked to the train station to head into London for afternoon tea. Unfortunately the trains had other plans and were all cancelled or delayed due to a fatality on the line in the Ealing area. One of those things I guess, but it meant we had no chance of making it to London in time for our afternoon tea reservation so we improvised and went to a lovely restaurant in Reading for lunch instead. I had planned to be good, but erm, I wasn't. Fishcake with leaks and a cream mustard sauce for starter, Liver and Bacon with Colcannon for main and then... sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream. Completely and utterly to die for. We also managed a few glasses of Sancerre and an Amaretto to finish. I guess that was my days points all gone? I've not even attempted to work it out, but it was lovely so it has to have been bad.

We eventually made it to the Royal Albert Hall around 6pm (having spent about an hour walking the wrong way - don't ever ask me for directions!) so had a couple of drinks in the bar before the show. This is my 5th Cirque Du Soliel show and each time it never fails to amaze me how brilliant these people are. Completely and utterly wonderful. I have to confess to grabbing a McDonalds Cheeseburger at Paddington station on the way home. Not the best day points wise all round?!

Yesterday I fared slightly better, we watched the tennis in bed with toast and a cuppa and then off to the gym for a swim. I was a bit worried that my card wouldn't work as I've not been forever, but fortunately my lack of attendance was forgiven and in we went. I swam about 20 lengths - which I found fairly hard work and then me and Matt had running races up and down the pool. That is fairly funny, but much hard work and I was soooo out of breath after about 6 lengths running up and down. We followed this with a little bit of steam room and jacuzzi action and then a skinny latte in the cafe and it was a fairly pleasant way to spend a Sunday.

I'd popped some pork in the Slow cooker before we left so that was dinner sorted once we got back with loads of veggies and a little spoonful of mash. I was stuffed after that so didn't feel the need for Dinner. Fairly good going for me!

We then heard that Matt's brother had fallen over on the ice and had been rushed to hospital. Turns out he has broken his leg in 4 places and also his wrist. Not good given he lives on his own, Matt is obviously fairly worried about him so I think we're going to head up to the Midlands at the weekend to see him. There is also a chance we may have him come and stay with us for a while until he can fend for himself a bit better, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it I guess. Not such a happy end to the day.

Today is planned, Porridge for breakfast, Tuna Salad for lunch with a WW Yoghurt and then tonight I am at a friends for dinner and she's doing a WW Coq au Vin. Hoepfully I'll come in fairly under points to make up for the weekends indiscretions.

I'm still hopeful despite Saturday that I can lose a pound or so this week, but if not, so be it. This journey is not an overly quick one for me, but I will get there in the end.
