Weekend excess again!

Why do I find it so hard to be in control when I am away from home - or is it just an excuse?? We went to Plymouth Friday night and Matt took me to Tanners restaurant (i.e. TV chef James Tanner) The food was blooming lovely. I didn't even try and make good choices - not that there were any to make, I just enjoyed every mouthful. Saturday we had fish and chips at the Barbican and then went to Matt's friends local pub - I did stick to Vodka and Slimline tonic which is one good thing I suppose. Saturday night saw a BBQ and a load of Kir Royales. Oh dear. Heartburn central on Saturday night = wake up call.

The good thing about eating too much on Friday and Saturday is that I couldn't eat much yesterday at all given the heartburn hell I found myself in. All I had was a delicious Sunday Lunch which probably wasn't overly points friendly, but I am doubting that was 27 points worth.

So today, I should be straight back on track. I got up early to get my ass to the gym - only to remember my car and my gym kit are currently 12 miles away at work. Doh. So no exercise but I will have a wander later on. We're meeting friends for lunch but I am going to stay off the booze and try and have something light.

The freezer has started on self defrost again so this week will see us eating our bodyweight in meat before we head off to the US. This time next week I will be in San Francisco!! Wooohoooo.

Temptation

Ok so the Festival is still annoying me - I had to queue for 15 mins this morning at the local petrol station (also a Tesco) at 0730am! Get back to your tents you numpties. Ho hum, but I will try not to be too much of an old grump about it - how dare these youngsters enjoy themselves in my 'hood'!? See, I am down with the kids :o)

We had a chinese last night but I stayed right on my points. So far so good. I'm meeting some friends for lunch today and they have helpfully chosen Gourmet Burger Kitchen as the venue. Aaarrrggghhhh. I can't find points anywhere so I am just going to have to guess but I promise I will not go for the Pesterella - 100% Aberdeen Angus Scotch Beef patty with Pesto, Mozarella, Salad, Mayo and Relish or the Avocado Bacon Burger.... oh my god. No, I'll just have a small burger, no cheese or mayo, no fries or onion rings on the side.... Thanks very much. Anyone got a large dose of willpower they can send my way purlease??

Grrrrrrrr

Majorly hypocritical given I spent the weekend at a festival.... but I HATE THE READING FESTIVAL!! I live across the river from the festival site - it doesn't start til Friday and already Caversham is over run with festival goers. I left work at 3pm today given I started at 6 and it took me nearly an hour to get home!! You can't get into our street without an access permit - and guess who forgot theirs? Clever stuff.

Thankfully we're going away on Friday (deliberately) so I won't have to endure it for much longer.

What a miserable cow I am.

Faced the music

and it was actually rather pleasant! I lost 0.5 which I am pretty much over the moon with. I've given myself a rather large kick up the backside and I am now back at it. I must stop sabotaging myself everytime I am having a good run at it.

So thats 2 stone 10 pounds gone. I'd love to get to my 3 stone before my holidays but I know thats extremely unlikely given I've only got one more WI before we go and we're away at the weekend. But, I can at least give it my best shot. I'm actually pretty damned determined not to overdo it while we are in the US. I know how disappointed I will be with myself if I come back much heavier.

Lovely.

One of those days

I mean one of those 'I am sick to death of pointing everything that passes my lips days.' Having had a good couple of weeks on the weight loss front, I am destined to gain this week given the excesses of the past few days. (Ever the pessimist) It won't be the end of the world as I've had a lovely week, but I already feel myself slipping into holiday mode and it worries me.

Last year I lost 2 stone, then went on an All-Inclusive holiday to Mexico in September. I decided I was going to eat and drink what I wanted and just enjoy myself. The result - I didn't step back on the scales until March this year - and I had gained that 2 stone back and some. I am now lighter than I was back then having lost 37.5 pounds so far and I really don't want to undo any of the hard work I have put in this year. However I am already thinking should I bother going to WI tomorrow given my weekend was bad... of course I will go and face the music, but my devil side is telling me not to bother!

We're off to Plymouth this weekend to visit some of Matt's friends. Hopefully I can be good, but I hate the lack of control when staying with friends or in a hotel. We then have a few days at home and then off to Newcastle for one of my best friends weddings, then we fly off on hols the day after. So, chances are I am not going to lose weight over the next few weeks, but my ultimate aim is not to gain too much.

Yesterday wasn't a particularly bad day, but I went out for dinner with friends so had to guess my points - reckon I was a couple over. Today I've been given a box of Cadbury Heroes as a thanks from one of the consultants. I've had 2 and already feel sick so they will be packed away in the drawer and hopefully won't be calling to me. I'm out for lunch with a few colleagues to a bagel place - hopefully I can stick to a healthy choice.

I hate this 'sod it' frame of mind I can feel myself lapsing into. Having seen some of the photos from the weekend - I know I still have a long way to go, so I just need to regain some self control and jobs a good 'un.

Come on Linz. Sort it out.

I heart Rick Astley

Fantastic weekend! The sun was shining, the alcohol was flowing and the music was fantastic. I had forgotten how brilliant 80's music is! I didn't even find the camping bit too traumatic - although going without a wash for 48 hours is not something I am in a hurry to repeat. Thank God for Dry Shampoo and Baby Wipes.

It's the first time I have been to a concert and known pretty much all of the words to all of the songs. I'm in love with Rick Astley and Nick Kershaw! Banarama, Kim Wilde and Belinda Carlisle were also really good - and Billy Ocean was fab!

Foodwise I have probably well and truly blown my points - we didn't actually eat that much but there weren't exactly any healthy choices. Plus I spent most of Saturday drinking either Pimms or Cider :) We did walk to and from the camp site on Friday and Saturday - which is about 6 miles in total - and of course I did some dancing... so maybe I have earnt a few BPs. But all in all, if I gain a couple of pounds this week, I won't mind too much as I had such a brilliant weekend.

I'm sporting a very sunburnt face today despite plastering on the factor 30 and I am armed with salad and fruit to get me back on track. Am off to listen to a bit of Nick Kershaw now on Spotify. Must not forget I am wearing headphones and start wailing like a banshee for the whole office to hear. Happy Days.

80's camping and chinese

I managed to avoid my usual working from home traumas yesterday and saved myself 16 points for dinner - should have been more than enough to go out with my parents and have a nice healthy meal and a couple of vodkas. Except - the unanimous choice for dinner venue?? All you can eat Chinese. Great. This is one of those places where you order the dishes instead of going up to a buffet table so in theory, I could have been good. Wrong. I really didn't go overboard (i.e. 1 duck pancake instead of the 3 everyone else polished off) but it all adds up. Harumph.

Slightly disappointed that I am now heading into the weekend with a 9 point defecit. How on earth am I going to make that up given I am spending the weekend in a tent surrounded by fast food and booze? I guess I'll have to dance a lot to try and earn a few BPs?

So we're off the the Rewind Festival tonight. Having vowed at the age of 14 I would never go camping again (I remember we had to walk for 3 hours with a tent on our backs in the pissing down rain of the Lake District), I have no clue what I need to be packing for this weekends antics. Admittedly, I'm camping 5 miles from home so it's not the massive trauma I am making out. My friend goes camping a lot so she is in charge of the tent and all related items so all I need to sort out is myself.

So far I have managed to pack:

Baby Wipes
Dry Shampoo
Deodorant & Body Spray
Pack a mac
Wellies
PJ's
Socks and Pants
Ear plugs

Then I am stuck. Given we're at a festival, do I try and be a bit trendy or do I go down the sensible route? Surely it shouldn't be this hard!

I am going to be minging by the time we get back on Sunday night, bet Matt can't wait for my smelly return.

Sniffle

Well I don't think I have swine flu, but I've been told to work from home as a precaution so I don't infect the whole office. I think I have a tiny bit of a cold, but clearly I'll use this as an excuse not to move my ass for the next few days.

The weather has taken a turn for the worse which is not ideal given I'm camping tomorrow for the first time since I was 14. Wellies and pacamac at the ready. Should be good though, we're off to the Rewind festival which has the likes of Rick Astley and T'Pau playing. Be good to relive my youth!

Food last night wasn't overly good but I should make up for it today. I find it a bit easy to point over the space of a week as opposed to daily and it seems to be working so far so fingers crossed.

Thought I'd also redo my measurements to see how much of a difference there is:

16th May

Thighs = 33 inches
Chest = 47 inches
Waist = 39.5 inches
Hips = 50 inches
Arm = 14.5 inches

Today

Thigh = 30 inches
Chest = 44 inches
Waist = 37 inches
Hips = 48 inches
Arm = 12 inches

Pretty pleased with that. How big were my arms given I still have bingo wings and I've lost 2.5 inches!?

WI

So after the predictions of doom yesterday, I hopped on the scales this morning pretty convinced I'd have a gain of at least a couple of pounds - especially given I went over points last night at the pub. Imagine my shock when I got a 2.5lb loss?!

What's going on with my body? It's TOTM and I'm feeling bloated and generally fat. I went over points the night before WI so really a loss of any sort probably isn't justified. However, I'll now stop shaking my head in bewilderment and do a little happy dance. Go me. I might just make my holiday goal now - 3.5 pounds more and 2 weeks to go. Definitely possible.

This week will be trying, my parents are down til Friday which involves alcohol and eating out, then I'm off to the Rewind Festival for the weekend - which involves camping, alcohol and eating out. There's a theme here.

I was going to go spinning tonight, but I've woken up this morning with a sore throat and of course my first thought was I have the dreaded Pig Flu. Such a hypochondriac. I've had a double dose of Vitamin C, some pineapple and some Beechams Ultra All in One. Nothing like going at it from all angles. I'll see if my poorly self has improved later before I tackle any exercise.

Craving rubbish

Yesterday I managed to stay within my points by the skin of my teeth. I had a right munchy day - scrap that, I had a right 'I want to eat all sorts of bad things' day. Fortunately I managed to satisfy my need for crap with Space Raiders and Rowntrees Randoms. Not sure why I was feeling that way, my one item of stress in my life i.e. needing a new tenant for my flat, is now sorted, maybe it was hormomal or something.

I had intended to go to the gym - but like all my good intentions yesterday that went by the wayside. Stupid really since my parents are arriving today so I'll not really have a chance to do much exercise while they are down. I've not seen them since the beginning of June and then I see them twice in a week. Feast or Famine.

WI tomorrow is unlikely to be pretty (don't I say that every week??). I really wanted to lose another 6 pounds before we go away on the 6th September, but that's looking extremely unlikely. Not the end of the world but I had wanted a little buffer to see me through any holiday gains - so I am now thinking I'm going to try and stay on track for the 2 weeks we are in the US. Hmmmmm.

Randomly I've had a salad for breakfast today, totally forgot I was meeting a friend for lunch and it seemed a bit more appealing than cornflakes. Waste not want not and all that.

Exhausted

How do people cope with children full time?? I am in awe of any of you parents out there :) Had a lovely weekend at home with my gorgeous nieces, but I am absolutely shattered. There is no such thing as a quiet sit down with your feet up when you have a 5 year old and her 2 year old sister demanding entertainment. Bless them both, they are absolutely gorgeous, but they have completely reinforced my lack of desire to produce my own any time soon!

I can't say I've been overly good at this WW malarkey over the weekend either, I mean I wasn't deliberately or knowingly bad, but I've no idea really of how my points went. I've tried to calculate what I ate over the last fews days and the BPs I've earnt still have my week in credit, but I am bound to be missing loads of stuff I consumed absentmindedly whilst trying to stop my younger niece from painting the tv with lipstick, or the older one from hanging from the door frame in the name of gymnastics.

Phew, so back to work for a rest. My parents are driving down tomorrow so we'll be out to the pub for my Mam's birthday the night before WI. Never clever, but needs must. Will have to be saintly the next couple of days. Lets hope the barman doesn't try and persuade me off the straight and narrow again tomorrow night as I might not have the will power to resist this time!

Walking

Last night I found myself agreeing to go on a 5 mile walk... yes that's correct - 5 miles. Given the sun had made an appearance, I thought a nice little jaunt would be a most pleasurable way to pass some time and have a little bit of exercise. Oh My God. What my dear friend neglected to tell me, was that approximately half of this walk was up a hill.... A flipping hill!

It took us about 1.5 hours and that was me walking a fast pace by my standards. The normal pace Alex walks at is the equivalent of my jogging speed so she had to slow down considerably to accomodate me. (Don't tell anyone, but I actually quite enjoyed it) I am not sure it's something I would be overly motivate to do on my own, but having a bit of a natter on the way definitely made the time pass quicker. I've told her to count me in for once a week - preferably the day after she's done loads of exercise and needs a gentle saunter. I was sweating profusely by the end. Alex was barely glowing.

We went to the pub afterwards and I had a grilled Halloumi salad and some houmous and bread. Lovely. Different pub this time, so no barman trying to scupper my best efforts at staying on track. I did have to get Matt to come and collect me as I couldn't manage the half a mile home - especially to the top of our hill!

Early finish today which means I'll have to forego the pub lunch. I'm flying up to Newcastle to see my parents and to help my mother look after my nieces for the weekend. Definitely not a relaxing weekend in store for me. Really looking forward to seeing them all as I've not been home since the beginning of June. I am hoping my mother may notice that I've shed a few more pounds as she's always happy to point out when I've gained them!

Right, I'm staggering off to refill my water bottle - my thighs think I'm some sort of crazy lady.

Oh and the walk we did last night according to walkjogrun.net was actually 5.34 miles. That .34 makes all the difference. Go me.

Pub Sabotage

After a fairly hectic day work wise, I managed to stay on track all day yesterday. Just proves that I eat because of boredom a lot of the time. Went spinning last night and it was flipping hard work, not sure if it's got harder or I've just forgotten the pain having not been for a couple of weeks.

Matt persuaded me we should reward ourselves with a couple of Lime and Sodas at the pub afterwards. As soon as we got there I knew we'd end up having dinner as well, since our fridge is currently housing some Laughing Cow light and a few wrinkled peppers, not overly inspiring! But with 10 points left I was fairly confident I could do ok. Full of my renewed zest for WW, I staggered off to the bar (still completley red faced and sporting wet hair, a good look I find). So the conversation goes like this:

Me: "Please can I have the grilled rump steak, with potatoes instead of chips"
Barman: "Certainly madame - sauteed potatoes?"
Me: "No thanks, just potatoes"
Barman: "Potato Gratin?"
Me (teeth slightly gritted now): "No thanks, just plain boiled potatoes"
Barman: "We have roast potatoes?"
Me (practically shouting): "Just plain boiled potatoes please"
Barman: "How about a side of onion rings and a bernaise sauce?"
Me (almost punching him): "Aaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
Barman: "How about a Dessert?"

Cue me punching his lights out and being arrested for GBH. Ok, that bit's a joke.

In fairness, I should be thanking him for his severe test of my will power which I feel I passed with flying colours. I was also tested by my darling boyfriend ordering steak and ale pie with chips AND rhubard crumble and custard. Pig face.

I'm off to polish my halo now and enjoy my cornflakes (if such a thing is possible).

WI

2lbs off.... nothing short of a miracle really. I am presuming last week I lost and then this week I have either gained or maintained - either way I am over the moon. So that's 35 lbs gone. Get in me.

My focus has returned today, the office is rid of chocolate, I have my healthy snacks thanks to my Graze Box and I'm booked in for spinning tonight. Normal service has resumed.

I am hoping to try and get another 6 pounds off before we go on holiday on the 6th September. It's doable I think if I don't lose my focus like this past week. There are a couple of hurdles in the way - i.e. I'm now away or doing something social every weekend until we go but I've coped with that before so I don't really have any excuses.

It's good to be back.

Why is it

The more crap I eat and the worse I feel, the more I want to eat rubbish?? As you can guess, I've not had the healthiest of weeks and my fruit and veg intake has been minimal. I'm feeling pretty crap because of it all - bad head, bloated and sickly but I am still wondering what else I can eat now, even though I'm not in the slightest bit hungry?? I just don't get it. We're bizarre creatures aren't we?

I've come to realise why I got this big in the first place - this sort of mentality. The difference is now, I actually realise that I am feeling crap and it's down to the food I'm eating. I'm actually craving salad and fruit.

So tonight although I am off for tapas with friends, I am going to try and make better choices and I'll even order a salad. As of tomorrow I am on a mission. Fact.

Sugar overload

Well those maltesers seemed to fall down my throat at an alarming rate yesterday - so much so I had no points left for dinner. Very clever. I felt sick from all the sugar.

This week has been a disaster WW wise, but I refuse to beat myself up over it. I know where I've gone wrong and I am determined it's a minor blip and not the start of a slippery slope. I guess the scales will show tomorrow. It's been 2 weeks since I last got weighed so I am hoping there might be a little bit of downwards movement, but it's not really the end of the world if there isn't. Watch me come back here tomorrow bleating on about not losing!!

I'm off for Tapas tonight with some friends - not overly clever the night before WI, but it might force me to eat a little bit less!

Present

Oh dear - just been given a present by one of the Sales guys for the work I've been doing on setting up a potential new customer site.....

Must resist.....

I just don't learn

Well I'd love to say my hangover from hell on Friday and complete lack of sleep put me off booze for a while, but I'd be talking complete tosh.

Friday night saw me having a little post work snooze for a few hours, followed by a BBQ for dinner. I did manage to avoid alcohol however. Well done me.

Saturday however was a different story. We got up early to go and clear out our storage unit - I should count that towards my Bonus Points as lugging boxes around a metal box on a blooming hot day saw me sweating like the proverbial. Dashed home after that and had a quick shower so as not to offend and then some friends arrived to celebrate my best mates birthday. I'm ashamed to say that the first thing that passed my lips on Saturday was a glass of Prosecco. It was obviously going to be downhill from there. Off we tottered to Mya Lacarte for lunch and the boozing continued. We saw Yasmina from the Apprentice (It's her restaurant) - funny how we used to chat to her all the time before she was on the telly, but now we were rendered mute in her presence. 3 courses of not overly WW friendly food later and much alcohol saw me getting home around 1am via various other drinking establishments.

Oh dear. Yesterday wasn't much better - I did stay off the booze but we met some friends for lunch and I polished off another 3 course affair topped off with Sticky Toffee Pudding. Gah.

I've done my best to point the weekend, but I am clearly missing various parts of Saturday where my memory completely fails me. I think about about 25 points over for the week so I've no hope of catching that up by Wednesday. I can't even get to the gym as I have plans tonight and tomorrow.

Utterly useless on the diet front I think is the conclusion. Good weekend though. Sometimes life just gets in the way of this weight loss malarkey.

As predicted

I am suffering a major hangover today, Oh my good God.

I've discovered I am not equipped to deal with 3 hours sleep on a school night and still function at a human level the next day. When you find yourself dancing to Ultravox at 3am in a ceiling carpeted club in Soho on a Thursday night and wake up about 4 hours later in your mates spare room, still fully clothed with an overriding taste of stale wine, you have to wonder what sort of day Friday will be.

Still I made good choices food wise - well if you count not bothering to eat anything at all as a good choice. I did however consume wine in such vast quantities that it must've contributed towards one of my 5 a day.

I've succumbed to a Greggs Cheese Pastie this morning - 7 points and it was actually pretty rank - or maybe thats just the wine I can still taste.

I wonder if I can get away with a little snooze in the toilets at some point, I find a toilet roll can double up as a decent pillow under these circumstances. At my age I really should know better.

Diet Coke OD

I am buzzing this afternoon and I have just realised I have completely OD'd on Diet Coke. My mouth tastes blooming awful, like I've been sucking on bag of spanners or something. Gah. I have at most 3 cans per week normally, but I appear to have guzzled my way through 3 sodding cans of the stuff today. What's that all about? My brain just isn't in gear this week - a combination of too much work to do and not enough sleep.

Last night I didn't go to my usual spinning class since the new boiler had been installed and I couldn't wait to get home and clean the place (how sad does that sound??) I cannot believe how much mess one (admittedly rather fit) man can create. Matt didn't go out on Tuesday so he decided he would last night instead and left me to a shed load of mess. Cheers mate! I spent 2 hours refilling cupboards, cleaning working surfaces, hoovering and washing floors, painting walls and replumbing various kitchen appliances. I think I was sweating more than I would have been at spinning! How exciting my life is. I did end up eating some left over Chinese for dinner, but I had 18 points left by that point and there really wasn't very much left. Reckon thats 4 points banked for yesterday. Matt cleverly forgot his keys so that was me awake at midnight and then I had to listen to his drunken ramblings for the next 20 minutes followed by him snoring like a truffle pig thereafter. Remind me why men and women choose to cohabit??

Tonight I am meeting uni friends in London, I've not seen the boys for nearly 2 years which is an absolute shocker considering we all live fairly close. I guess these things happen when they find wives and produce offspring, sad all the same though. Should be a good one, but the email banter has started and alcohol seems to be featuring largely! I think we're off for dim sum as well so I should be able to make wise choices. I anticpate a large hangover tomorrow.

Went for lunch today with one of the girls from work - I avoided all my absolute favourites and had a plain toasted bagel instead. Not overly inspiring or tasty. I was trying not to drool over her mozzarella, bacon, chicken and pesto combination which looked flipping gorgeous. I had to restrain myself from licking her plate clean once she was done. Kidding of course, I have some manners :)

Not going home tonight so food tomorrow will all be bought, I hope I don't have any hangover demons telling me a bacon and egg sarnie and a KFC is the only cure. I'm not sure the stale box of fruit and fibre I have in my desk drawer will cut it really.

Right then, back to the grind.

Moaning

So as predicted, I didn't get to WI today thanks to a stupid meeting about absolutely nothing of any interest at all. I don't feel like I've had a particularly good week food wise but I am really feeling frustrated that I can't see if there has been any damage or if all of the exercise I have done this week has paid off.

On the positive side, I did go to the gym last night despite having no energy at all. However, that was more to do with the fact we are having a new boiler fitted and therefore have no hot water this morning so I needed a shower last night!! Although once I was there I did actually bother to do something and worked up a bit of a sweat. I also got weighed on the scales at the gym and they had me the same as WW - which I guess is good given I normally weigh in on a morning and bare foot, not an evening (after a cake binge) wearing trainers.

This morning got off to a bad start, I woke up at 5am and couldn't get back to sleep. I am stressing over my flat which needs a new tenant and nothing seems to be happening on that front. I still have tenant for a couple of months so its not so pressing, but I really wish someone else would just decide to take it off my hands for another year so I can then sell the blooming thing! Anyone want to rent a 2 bed flat in Surrey????

My journey to work almost finished me off as well. Picture the scene. 3 lanes of traffic at a roundabout with traffic lights. The left lane, just for turning left, The middle lane for turning left and going straight on, and the right hand lane, for going straight on and turning right. All of which is clearly marked on the road. So, I am sat in the middle lane as I do every morning to turn left. Traffic lights turn green and off I go - except the stupid old woman in the left hand lane decides she is going straight on..... No indication, no waiting for me to get where I am going, just ploughs on ahead completely oblivious to me and everyone else. I missed her by about an inch. The guy behind then nearly ploughed into the back of me considering he was also trying to turn left. The worst thing is, I beeped at her and screeched to a halt, but she still was none the wiser. I mean seriously, if you aren't aware of other road users then don't flipping well drive. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I think I have just about stopped shaking.

Phew, glad thats off my chest.

This week is looking a bit hectic on the social front - out tomorrow in London, Friends birthday on Saturday and then lunch on Sunday with other friends and another dinner out on Tuesday. I am going to have to try really hard to conserve points prior to that and try and do a bit of exercise where possible. Its never easy is it??

Right, another stupid meeting to go to. Not actually sure when I am supposed to fit some proper work in??!

Tuesday, 4 August 2009

Note to self

DO NOT BUY WW BELGIAN CHOCOLATE SLICES EVER AGAIN!!!

Far too nice and my willpower around them seems to totally disappear. 3 cakes in one day is too much by anyones standards even if its only 4.5 points worth. I don't even particularly like cakes or sweet stuff, but these things are just too lush. Best get my fat arse down the gym tonight to negate the damage.

Stupid moist, chocolatey, gooey cakes. EVIL.

No WI??

I've just realised I'm unlikely to make WI this week thanks to sodding, stupid, crappy work. I normally WI at 10am on a Wednesday morning about 2 mins from my office. However thanks to the world and his wife being on holiday this week, I've got meetings to attend about meetings and that sort of nonsensical crap.

I've checked for other classes near me on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and none of them I can reasonably make thanks to sodding, stupid, crappy work. Arse. Can you tell I'm not having the best of days??

There is no point in me weighing in on our home scales as I can lose 1 stone in a day just by clipping my finger nails according to them.

Oh well, another 9 days I suppose until I can see if I am any nearer to my holiday goal. Must banish that demon in my head telling me to relax a bit if I've got more time....

Harumph.

Weeked musings

I've had a weekend of doing very little, but I don't feel like I've been overly good. Friday's little snooze meant I didn't actually eat that much until dinner time - but then we did have pie and chips and mushy peas. I pointed it all and came in with points to spare, but I can't help but feel it will have an impact on my weight this week. I need to get out of the mindset that existing on Veg is the only to lose weight.

Yesterday I made it to the gym and actually felt quite up to it for once. I'd planned 30 mins of cardio and a bit of weights, but ended up doing 50 mins of cardio instead. I even managed to run for 6 minutes in total - not exactly an achievement, but my fitness is definitely improved. 20 mins on the treadclimber nearly finished me off I have to say, my thighs were burning.

We were flipping famished after that and headed off to Wagamama. I was all set to go for something healthy, but couldn't resist the Chicken Katsu Curry - 14 points but worth every lovely mouthful. Last night I just had a stir fry and then got tempted by a bottle of Rose. Not ideal. 3 glasses later, I was over points which wasn't helped by a few ritz crackers and some Boursin light. Doh. All of my BP's therefore used.

Today has been slightly better, we played tennis for an hour this morning. I'm still utterly crap and spend most of my time running around trying to retrieve the balls for all sorts of random places, but its the taking part that counts - allegedly.

Work this week will be testing. I really need to make sure I am prepared so I am not tempted to eat shit to get me through the days. Fingers crossed.

Perspective

I can't believe how the sad news of someone you've never met, but whose blog you follow, can have such an impact on you. I genuinely cried yesterday when I read Jen's entry about her mum, I can't begin to imagine what she must be going through. Put's life into perspective.
