Why do I wake up at 0630 on a Saturday morning with absolutely no chance of getting back to sleep?? It's so annoying, I'll be shattered by lunch time. The minute I wake up my mind goes into overdrive and I really struggle to nod off again. Drives me mad.
I didn't make Yoga on Thursday because of the ankle situation, I'm kind of glad I didn't go as my friend said it was a very full on class - ending with headstands..... rightio, I think that's a sure fire way for Mrs. Clumsypants here to break her neck.
Week is going pretty well on the food front so far. However, we did end up in TGI Friday's last night which wasn't part of the plan. I was swayed by a couple of cocktails, although I did say no to the creamy ones (which I love but I may as well just drink a vat of oil). I opted for a sirloin steak with house salad and low fat balsamic dressing on the side. No idea how to point the cocktails but I did have 10 points in the bank and 11 points left so I reckon I should be ok. Plus we walked the mile there and back which is something I'd normally try and avoid given I'm generally a lazy moo.
Tonight we're off to friends for dinner and much alcohol so I'm not going to have much control over that. I've made some red pepper and butternut squash soup which I'll try and fill up on for zero pointages before we go, hopefully that will stop me gorging myself. Going to try and get to the gym this morning as well, but I've a few mundane household chores I need to crack on with first. Can't really make a start on any of that until the incredible sleeping man (aka Matt) awakes. That's likely to be lunchtime knowing him.
Other than that not much to report from this end. Hope you all have lovely weekends!

Soreness and dullness
I went Spinning last night with as much enthusiasm as I could muster and although I don't like to admit it.... I actually quite enjoyed it. We had a new trainer and she was really good, very encouraging and it was good to do a new routine with some different music. The class went quite quickly and I worked bloody hard - I was a right sweaty mess by the end. I even managed to do a couple of rounds of the bit I hate - where you have to sink down, keeping your body still and totally just use your legs. Flipping ouch. My legs are slightly jelly like today.
In the end we decided against tapas which meant I ended up managing to bank some points. I cooked Diet Coke Chicken and Fried Rice - so it was kinda like having a Chinese without spending money or too many points. Plus I didn't cook enough so my portion was fairly miniscule.... fortunately I was still pretty satisfied after my Steak sarnie at lunch time - quite rare for me.
Today is also going well on the food front, although my lunch was pretty disappointing. I grabbed a WW Ham and Mushroom Tagliatelle as I was hankering after some pasta. Hmmmmm, its pasta in a flavourless watery sauce with a few bits of flavourless ham thrown in. Not sure what happen to the mushrooms but they were nowhere to be seen. Not good for 6 points given I could have made something much tastier for less myself - had I bothered my ass last night. Oh well, you live and learn. Slow cooker is on today with a Beef and Red Wine concoction, so that should hopefully make up for the cack lunch!
I'm booked in for Dynamic Yoga tonight, but I think I may have to give it a miss. I struggled with it when I had a fully functioning ankle and mine is a tad sore today after spinning last night. I think I'll go for a swim or maybe just a walk instead.
Other than that, not a lot to report, apologies for the dull post - hope you're not all bored to tears!

Knitting rocks
A fun time was had by all - although I am not the world's best knitter it has to be said. However having not done it for approximately 18 years, I picked it up fairly quickly again. I am definitely going to keep this up - I think it will be a pretty good distraction when I am bored to tears and reaching for the fridge.
Check out my attempts! Oh and the large glass of red wine also on the go - we got free wine which was a good incentive to go again.... I'm such a lush. Anyway, I think I need to get myself some bigger wool as my scarf is unlikely to be ready by Xmas 2010 at that rate!
Didn't make WI today as predicted due to a meeting, so I need to be super good this week and get myself a good loss. I've decided to reset my goal for New Years Eve, I had wanted to lose another stone to get myself into the 16's, but thats looking unlikely now given I have been fannying about for the last couple of weeks. I am now aiming for 8 pounds to get my 50lbs loss. Doable I think.
Had another pub lunch today for a leaving do, but I managed to keep the demon under control and opted for a steak sandwich - probably the healthiest thing on the menu - no chips this time. Fortunately we had to pre order and I had my sensible head on when we did - otherwise the gnocchi with blue cheese sauce might have been winging it's way to me.
I've booked in for spinning tonight, but plan to take it fairly easy given the ankle situation. Following on from Starfish's advice, I have rethought the BP's I earn. 25 mins at hardcore and 20 mins at moderate gives me 6.5Bps - seems a bit more likely than the 9 I was awarding myself. We're off for tapas after that, which is always tricky to point exactly, but with the BP's in the bank and my new and improved attitude, all should be good.
I'm spurred on again by my new goal so I am determined I will have another good week, I've only one social function at the weekend which could scupper me, but so long as I am in control the rest of the time, all should be good... right?!

Slightly off track
Yesterday I managed to come in on points by the skin of my teeth. I was in a picky mood, I just wanted to eat all day and I am not entirely sure why. I tried to have 'better' snacks i.e. dried apricots and a 'goodness' bar but it all adds up on the pointometer. I was at a friends for dinner last night and she cooked a chilli, but she's fairly weight conscious herself so it was with extra lean mince and I only had a small portion. I managed to say no to the Tiger bread to go with it and the cheese her hubby was serving up afterwards. Very hard as I flipping well love cheese.
Today started off well, spurred on by Jaframity's success with her silicon egg poachers, I decided to give mine a shot this morning having purchased at the weekend. Big thumbs up from me, a lovely poached egg without the soggy toast that I normally serve up. I normally have breakfast at work, so it was a nice change to sit and watch a bit of GMTV with my cuppa and a 'proper' breakfast.
On getting to work, I managed to successfully ignore the massive box of Greggs Halloween cakes and biscuits kindly placed on the desk behind me. Fortunately, I work with a bunch of gannets so the cakes didn't last long.
Lunch was where it all went a bit off kilter, I did try to be good, but I have a demon in my head who I am currently engaged in a bit of a battle with. My boss has called a team meeting tomorrow morning from 0930-1100. My WI is at 1000 - so obviously I am unlikely to make it. So there goes the demon in my head telling me I don't have to opt for the salad at the pub since I won't be weighing in for another week. Gah! I ordered a chicken wrap without mayo - but did find myself saying 'Yes Please' when asked if I'd like to add chips to my order for an extra £1. Unfortunately the menu also neglected to tell me that the chicken wrap was a 'Deep fried in batter with a side portion of cholesterol' chicken wrap. I left most of the chips as there was too much potato in them for my liking (odd I know) and I picked off some of the batter from the chicken. Could have been worse I guess. Plus we got to sit outside and enjoy the freakishly warm October day. Most pleasant.
Upon my return to the office, I am greeted with Cadbury's Mini Roll and Caramel Cake Bars. For crying out loud people. Stop!
I've made an appointment with my Doctor to get referred for my ankle - unfortuantely he can't see me until next Thursday. I've got private health with work and I found out it covers 10 physio sessions so that is a bit of a result.
Tonight I am off to a pub in Twickenham to drink wine and knit. No seriously! It's my first Knitting Club session and having raided my mother's knitting needle stash at the weekend, I am ready to go. I have visions of knitting myself a lovely scarf in time for Xmas - had better limit the wine intake later or it could be more of a doily I end up creating.

AWOL for the weekend
I've had a lovely weekend back at home. Spent a lot of time with my nieces and my sisters, plus the parentals of course. My nieces came to stay at my parents house on Friday so I could spend a bit of time with them, which saw me running around like a loony. They don't just sit and watch TV do they?? Constant entertainment required. Hats off to all of you parents out there.
My diet hasn't been great in the sense that I've not really pointed all weekend, plus my mother always has LOADS of food in. Bless her, she always buys me WW stuff, but then also has biscuits and crisps in abundance. I've had a fair bit of self control, but I probably also snaffled a few too many of my mothers amazing Yorkshire Pudding's yesterday (my absolute favourite things ever). My mother also likes a tipple of a Saturday evening, so that saw us polishing off a few bottles of the fizzy stuff whilst my Dad tried to watch Match of the Day.
I tried on my bridesmaid dress for my sister's wedding next October and presently, it looks truly hideous (ok, that's maybe harsh, it just doesn't look very nice at the moment), so I am now more determined than ever to lose at least another 3 stone over the course of the next year. Failing that, I'll have to resort to lipo suction... or wearing some form of surgical stockings to try and suck in my legs. But obviously I won't fail - because I can do this and I will look bloody great in that dress by next October! My little sis tried on her wedding dress and she looks bloody amazing, I'd love to hate her.
My mother also insisted on making me get my ankle looked at as she was convinced it didn't 'look right'. The doctor decided that it had been dislocated at some point and therefore isn't sitting correctly. That's not quite the terminology he used, but you get my drift. It would probably explain me nearly passing out with the pain at Easter when I did it the last time. I need to go and get referred for physio to try and get everything back in the right position, that sounds painful to me. I'm strapped up now, and so long as I don't do any exercise that involves lunging around, I should be ok. I guess I just need to take it easy and not push it.
On a positive note - no sign of Swine flu so I think I've escaped that. Phew. We also had 2 new bathroom fitters arrive this morning - so my crying down the phone to Dolphin on Friday seems to have worked (shameless I know, but I was desperate). We might even have a bathroom by the end of the week. Imagine that.
Right, I have a lot of blog reading (oh and work) to do. Every time I tried to get on the computer at the weekend, I ended up playing Hannah Montana (with my niece of course... not of my own chosing - honest!)

Bathroom swine flu
I had forgotten how painful Spinning can be - it was obvious that I'd not been for 4 weeks as my thighs were burning during the class and my nether regions still haven't forgiven me - seriosuly can they not make the seats more comfy?? My ankle was so fat however that I struggled to get my trainer on properly, even with strapping. Imagine trying to fit an apple into your shoe along with your foot. I managed to do all of the class, but my ankle is reminding me today that I maybe should have slowed down a bit. It's now melon sized and somewhat paining me. Stupid bloody thing.
We ended up with Chinese last night which was fine given I had 14 points left plus the 9 BPs I earn from Spinning (really 9 BPs??). It was nice, but not as nice as I expected which was a bit of a let down. I think my recent home cooking has made me realise that is the way forward. We also watched the film Twilight which I quite enjoyed, but, I much prefer the book. I'm yet to see a film that is actually better than the book it is based on.
3 weeks today since our Bathroom was ripped out - we are still no further forward. Having had a week off sick with stress and then coming back for 2 days, our fitter now apparently has swine flu. That's not overly ideal given I worked from home on Tuesday and he was there. I managed to convince myself I had symptoms last night - my chest felt tight and I was aching, but that was clearly just my over active imagination (or perhaps just the after effects of Spinning??!) I am totally fine today. Fingers crossed nothing sufaces.... I am sat here waiting to feel ill, it's bordering on the ridiculous. Dolphin are apparently trying to find us another fitter. I swear that company is the most useless thing I have ever dealt with. I intend to bad mouth them to anyone who will listen!
Food today is going well - except my useless boyfriend made off with my salad this morning instead of his. I made us both a bacon and stilton salad so not overly a trauma - except mine had one rasher of bacon and 20g of Stilton all carefully weighed out and pointed. His has 3 rashers (he's greedy) and an unweighed amount of cheese. Grrrrr, I've picked out some bacon and some cheese in the vain hope I am still having the same points as everything else in there is free. If I didn't know better I'd say it was sabotage :)
I'm forgoing my treat today in favour of tonight's outing for Tapas with the girls. Most days I have a packet of Pickled Onion Space Raiders (1) or a mini Milky Bar (1.5). I wandered into the 99p shop today to find 12 bags of said Space Raiders for erm.... well 99p and 6 bars of Milky Bar for the same. I also got some Ryvita Goodness Cranberry and Apple bars (well tasty for a point). I'm like a walking 99p Stores advert. I'm my mother's daughter when it comes to a bargain!
I have a 5 hour train journey tomorrow which could prove taxing, In the past I tended to turn to food during the hours of boredom so I am going to have to arm myself with a book and some healthy treats. I can get a train direct from Reading to my hometown of Chester le Street which is a total result given I normally fly and when you add up the total journey it's about the same. Will be nice to get home and see my family - especially my nieces. I just hope I am not carrying bathroom fitters swine flu germs with me!

WI
Somehow I lost a pound!! So that is now 3 stone gone exactly. Well chuffed, if not a little bemused. I am determined to have a good week. I've been messing around pretty much since I got back from holiday and having had a good few days, I wonder why I have been messing about quite so much.
I guess it will always be a bit of a battle to stay on the straight and narrow, after all if it was so easy to eat healthily then I wouldn't have been so big in the first place. However, once I have my head in the right place - which seems to have clicked the last few days, I don't actually find it all that difficult. Cooking from scratch definitely helps and it still never fails to amaze me how nice some of the healthy stuff I've been cooking of late actually tastes. For me it's all about being prepared, eating a little bit of what I fancy in moderation, so no denying myself and getting myself back on track every time I have a little bit of a blip.
My ankle is still painful, but I am going to strap it up and give spinning a go tonight. I'll take it easy otherwise I could end up doing more damage, but I should be ok. I've been feeling tired this week and I think that's mainly due to not having moved my backside much since the conker attack.
I'm out tomorrow night with the girls and home for the weekend to see the family, but I reckon I can successfully navigate my way around that. Here's to a good week!

Hanging on in there
Thank you to everyone who commented on my progress pictures post yesterday, it's really nice to hear your positive comments to and to know that there is actually a difference. It totally spurs me on to be better and to get my eating back in control - so thank you.
Well I managed to come bang on points yesterday which was an achievement given I had my stressy head on by the time I got home last night. A combination of rubbish day at work, being locked out, a 2 hour journey home (12 miles!!) a bathroom to paint and a fat ankle, had me in a well bad mood!
Saw the osteopath and she said I've just badly sprained my ankle this time, so hopefully no lasting damage. She did give me a bit of a talking to for not wearing an ankle support when exercising. I've obviously got a big weakness in that ankle now so I need to wear a support even when I am feeling like its fine. Doh! Anyway, she did some ultrasound and a lot of yanking about of said ankle - that bloody well hurt I can tell you. Apparently that should help the healing process??! She told me I should be fine to do exercise that doesn't involve me lunging about so long as I stay strapped up. Anyway, ankle is still a cankle and ugly as hell!
Last night I'd cooked a bolognese in the slow cooker - I had my portion with green beans instead of pasta to stop me from going over. It's amazing what you can do without when required.
I've worked from home today which has been tough as there are biscuits in the cupboard. I don't even have a sweet tooth, but these little buggers have been screaming at me all day. Nothing worse than a gobby chocolate digestive.
For dinner tonight I've cooked up some pork chops with a mustard and cider sauce. A bit of an experiment but looks quite tasty. Pan fried the pork chops, then fried off some apple slices, onions and mushrooms in the pan juices. Added some cider and a couple of teaspoons of mustard and a blob of extra low fat creme fraiche. Jobs a good un. Now can anyone tell me - when you cook with alcohol do you still point it as normal even though you cook off the boozy bit? Never sure, best to point it anyway I guess.

WI tomorrow and I am not convinced of good things - my tracker is showing a 12 point defecit which hasn't been helped by my lack of movement. I have however booked myself in for Spinning tomorrow night which I'll take easy in case the cankle doesn't hold out. I am determined to have a good week!

Progress pictures
Managed a good day food wise yesterday for the first time in a while, which feels pretty good. Planning is definitely the key for me. The minute I don't have a plan, I find myself stuffing bread down my neck like my life depends on it.
Thankfully the Asda man came yesterday morning so I have planned the next few days. For lunch yesterday (post ankle trauma) I cooked a roast chicken with some potato dauphinoise using extra low fat creme fraiche and low fat cheese. Totally made up the recipe and hoped for the best, but it was lovely. Definitely one to be repeated.
I hobbled my way to the Pub Quiz last night (that's a blatant lie - I made Matt drop me off) as apparently my knowledge of "shite", as my friends put it, was required. We came a very respectable second - mainly due to my TV theme tunes knowledge. I am not sure I should admit to recognising the lyrics from 'Prisoner Cell Block H' however, that's just so not cool!
Still feeling a bit sorry for myself after the conker debacle yesterday as I really wanted to up my game on the exercise front this week. I guess I can swim still, but I'll check with the osteopath tonight. The last thing I need to do is aggravate it.
Whilst planning my meals for the week, I stumbled across the hideous photos I took when I started this journey. Crikey, my arse was (still is) flipping humongous... I got Matt to take some now photos before I went out so I could compare. I can see a bit of a difference, but I still have a long way to go.
Start photos:

41.5 pounds down:

I guess I can see some changes, but that backside really needs to shrink!!
Ah well, positivity and all that, I will get there - regardless of whether I have to hobble all the way!
Also just realised I've locked us out of the flat today - very clever. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Attacked by a conker
One minute I am playing tennis, I'm actually doing well, I am running around, working up a bit of a sweat and hitting shots that I couldn't normally hit. I am actually enjoying exercise! Next minute I am face down, chewing on gravel with a cut knee and an ankle throbbing with it's own heartbeat thanks to a rogue conker and my absolute inability to stay upright.
I've torn my ankle ligaments twice in the past, the most recently at Easter when I spent 4 weeks out of action with a black and blue calf and an ankle the size of a space hopper. Up until now, I've still had some discomfort in my ankle if I overdo it, but its generally been ok. I obviously wasn't reckoning on a conker felling me this morning.
I hate that feeling, when you twist your ankle. It's bloody painful - and it throbs for an age. You get a sick feeling, thinking this has to be broken, it's soooo sodding sore, I'll never walk again (yes I know, hypochondriac!) Then you can't get up - especially trying to lift 18 stone on one leg so you flail around like a fish out of water. Then you realise your other knee is cut, then wonder how you've cut your knee but don't have a hole in your jogging bottoms. Then you're picking gravel out of your hand and spitting it from your mouth.
Anyway, I digress..... So, 5 hours later and it's not looking pretty - although I hear purple is quite fashionable this season. Check out the swelling as well, I am in danger of losing my flip flop underneath that fat foot.

I've strapped it up and taken some ibuprofen, but there's not much else I can do. I'm at the osteopath tomorrow for my shoulder, so I'll ask her to look at it as well. Just so bloody annoying when I was actually quite enjoying exercise! I am now sporting a massive cankle, just when it was starting to get back to normal. Woe is me.

Footy and food OD
Thank you everyone who commented on my Fat Day post - you are absolutely lovely people! It's great to have people who are in the same situation as me and know what I am going through with this weight loss journey. I don't want to get all gushy in a wierdy online stalker kind of way, but you know, you are all great!
Food wise the weekend hasn't been ideal. Friday night I tried to make good choices, I opted for smoked salmon as my starter and then Chicken and Leek pie for main course. My reckoning behind this was I could leave the pastry - it was the only thing on the menu that didn't come with chips or 'extra creamy' mash. However, my pie was really odd. The filling of the pie tasted of licorice (fennel?) and I just couldn't eat it. Probably not such a bad thing, but I did drink enough wine to blow my points completley out of the window. Bad head to follow.
I got called on Friday night by work at midnight - really not good when you've consumed your bodyweight in wine. I hope I didn't sound as drunk as I felt!
Yesterday, we met Matt's mum and Stepdad in Brum for a coffee before we headed off to the Hawthorns. Matt is a nightmare on footy days - he gets so nervous about the score that he necks pints like his life depends on it. I opted to lay off the booze yesterday to try stop the points defecit growing even further. So that meant I was dealing with a drunken footy nutter whilst stone cold sober. Great stuff. Anyway, at least West Brom managed to beat Reading 3-1 so he was a happy drunken footy nutter. He was even happier when my team (Newcastle) lost, meaning West Brom went top. Harumph! I do like going to Birmingham since it's only 1.5 hours on the train from us and it's where my dad is from. I spent a fair few summers in that neck of the woods when I was younger visiting my grandparents.
Food was shocking yesterday given we ate on the go all day, Pork and Stuffing baguette, Brie, tomato and basil baguette, half a portion of chips, half a bag of McCoys and 3 all butter biscuits. Healthy stuff hey? I suppose at least I avoided the Balti Pie at the footy! I have a really bad stomach today from all of that rubbish so that should force me back on track today. I've 3 days left and a 15 point defecit, I don't think I'll easily make that up but I'll give it a go. I am hoping to get to the gym later or if the weather holds out we may play tennis. My exercise has been seriously lacking this week.
I don't know why I do this to myself. I set myself a target of being in the 16's by New Year's eve and I seem to be doing my utmost to get myself planted firmly back in the 18's. Anyway, enough of that attitude, I am going to be positive for the next few days before WI and hopefully I can will the scales in the right direction.
Oh and Grrrrrrrrrr - recorded Strictly last night and just catching up this morning (loving Spandau Ballet!) while Matt sleeps off his hangover. Thanks to the over-running of the Grand Prix I've not got the last 20 mins - i.e. the results. Flipping technology sucks sometimes. I suppose I could watch it on iPlayer (given I used to work at the BBC on iPlayer, I should really be a bit more of a convert!!)

Fat day
Slightly strange mood today. The flashing eyes have abated so I am back at work (worse luck) and had a good night's sleep so am generally feeling a bit more human.
I am bloody hungry though. I've had some cereal and a salad (for the record, I'm just not a cereal fan - I really just don't get it, give me toast any day), but I'm trying to save points for tonight as we're off to Birmingham and staying at Hotel Du Vin - We got a special offer through Red magazine, £99 for a one nights stay, 2 course dinner and a bottle of wine for 2 people, so it's rude not to indulge obviously. I've still got a 5 point defecit from Wednesday so I kind of need to reign it in a bit today. My lack of gymnasial activity (I've clearly made that word up) is also somewhat disappointing.
I'm having a fat day today - which is unusual for me. Even at my heaviest (approaching 21 stone) I never really saw myself as being so big. Obviously I had the odd moment, when I felt that nothing looked right on me, but generally I have always had a lot of self confidence, much more so than many of my skinny friends. That's probably one of the reasons I got so big - I didn't actually see myself for what I was. I think I have some kind of reverse body dysmorphic disorder. But today, I just don't feel right. I'm wearing clothes that would look great on a slimmer person - A pair of "jeggings" (I feel a right prat using that word), long tunic jumper thing and a pair of pixie boots - but on someone pushing 18 stone, I am just not sure it works. I've worn this kind of outfit a few times and always felt quite good, so I'm really not sure what's up with me today.
My trauma however is as we're away tonight and at the football tomorrow, I have had to pack very lightly, so I've only got a change of top (and clearly underwear, that would just be wrong otherwise). I went into Evans at lunch time to buy some jeans to change into - and even though I am definitely in smaller sizes, they didn't look right on me either so I left empty handed. It must just be me today.
Ah well, not really the end of the world. I'll just keep deluding myself that I am gorgeous and I am sure I'll believe it again soon - failing that I'll hit the wine :)
Meeting Matt's parents tomorrow for lunch before the footy and then heading home after West Brom hopefully beat Reading - Matt will be a right old moody boy if they don't and there is nothing worse than a moody man. We have the pleasure of painting the half finished bathroom on Sunday, too exciting. Happy Days!
Right then, I'm signing off for now. Have a good weekend everybody!

Flashing lights
Had a lovely night last night, we went to a gorgeous restaurant that I stumbled across quite by accident - i.e. I booked it thinking it was somewhere else completely, but it worked out better than expected. I ate what I wanted which turned out to be Twice baked cheese souffle, Slow cooked Belly Pork followed by a sliver of Brie with Walnut bread and grape chutney - Heaven on a plate - well 3 plates. I've guesstimated that I am 11 points over for yesterday, but I can make that up over the next few days. Today's menu comes in at 19 points so that's 7 I'm having back already. I'm trying to work on the basis that I get 182 points a week so I need to come in around that figure by the end of Tuesday. Shouldn't be too hard - right?
Had a very strange morning, got to work bright and early feeling totally fine, if not still a bit tired. Went to make myself a Skinny Cow Mint Hot Chocolate and thought when I got back to my desk I'd maybe been staring out the window vacantly (as is the norm with me) for a bit too long as there were lights flashing before my eyes.... except it didn't go away. Being a complete hypochondriac, my initial thought was I was going blind, having some form of brain malfunction or experiencing a detached retina - I told you I was a bit prone to exaggeration. I literally couldn't see anything at all well, cue mass panic on my behalf.
Fortunately my mother, who's a nurse (to be said in an annoying style like the girl from Jonny Briggs) called me right in the middle of this bizarre episode to tell me about some cheap Ugg boots she'd found - bless her, she loves a bargain. When I told her I was mid panic that my eyesight was failing me she immediately diagnosed an eye migraine and told me to get myself home for a lie down. Easier said than done when you cannot see, I can tell you.
So here I am, I managed to get home in one piece, have had myself a lie down for an hour or so, but essentially I feel fine. My head hurts, but my eyesight seems to be back to normal. I'm not really working as I have to stare at black screens with green writing all day and I fear that will send me doolally again. I think I'm just tired, I've not slept well all week - not helped by having a boyfriend with Man Flu snoring like a tractor next to me all night.
The gym isn't going to happen now which is somewhat annoying after my bleating of yesterday that I would do something - erm Not Fact!
I obviously am tired as I've just found myself crying at 60 Minute Makeover!! Oh dear.

WI woes and happy days.
After Friday and Saturday's over indulgence, I wasn't really expecting good things this morning. Half a pound off would have got me my 3 stone, but I've cleverly managed to get myself back to 18 stone with half a pound back on. Harumph! Not the end of the world I know, but slightly disappointing. I guess my past few weeks of not really being very good have caught up with me.
However, today is pretty good for me - despite the small blip at the scales. Let me tell you a story. A couple of years ago, I was happily single after a pretty rubbish long term relationship. However, I was facing a summer where my only single friend was heading off to Argentina for 6 months, leaving me in the land of coupledom. After a few weeks of my friends trying to pair me up with every single man they came across (Oh you'll love him - he's single??!), I decided I'd be better off taking fate into my own hands. I signed up to Match.com.
The idea was not to find a boyfriend, since I'd had enough of the last one to last me a lifetime. I just wanted to get out there, not always playing the gooseberry with my happily loved up mates. It was certainly an entertaining experience. I had numerous dates, some good, some bad and some downright awful. I met all sorts of men, many who had completely lied about their age, height or marital status - I mean seriously, do you not think you'll get found out when you tell me you're 35 and 6ft and you turn up and you're eye level with my chest and old enough to be my grandfather?? But all in all, it was a bit of a laugh and nothing serious.
Towards the end of my 6 month subscription, I got an email from a sport obesessed, Brummie accountant - not my ideal man (My dad is a sport obsessed, Brummie accountant and as much as I love him to bits, I didn't think my ideal man would be a carbon copy of him!) I reluctantly agreed to meet him for a drink one afternoon when I was suffering from a bout of cold and not really feeling my best. His first words to me were "oh you do look like shit" (in reference to my cold apparently) and here we are 2 years today still together. So Happy Anniversary Matt!

Anyway, I digress. I didn't make the gym last night due to sheer exhaustion. I fell asleep on the sofa when I got in from work and woke up 30 minutes later feeling pretty rubbish. So that's no major form of movement since Sunday. Lazy cow.
I made a lovely chilli meatballs recipe from the Winter Warmers cookbook. It was really easy to make for 6 points and very tasty with 2 points worth of rice and a bit of grated low fat cheese. By the end of this pointing week, I was only 1 point in defecit, so I clearly underestimated what I had actually consumed on Friday night!
We're out tonight for dinner and away in Birmingham on Friday (West Brom v Reading on Saturday - lovely!). Once again I'll be struggling to control what I consume, but I have to try and make better choices once I've had a few beverages - or just control the alcohol?!
Yoga is booked for tomorrow although I'll finish work at 1630 which involves me trying to kill 1.5 hours before the class, so I might have to do something else instead. Either way, I will do something tomorrow night. Fact!
Have a good day everyone!

Sleepy
Today is a real struggle. I was already shattered yesterday and got back from my flat meeting (more of chat about nowt really) fairly early to hit the sack. Work had other ideas however, I have the pleasure of being on call this week, (for which I don't get paid I hasten to add) and one of our servers was not responding. Just happened to be the server of our biggest customer who get VERY vocal when things go the shape of a pear (good job they've never seen me in the flesh!). Brilliant. Basically, I ended up getting to bed at 0130 which pleased me greatly. Then my head was in work mode so it took a while to switch off. I had planned to get up early and hit the gym - clearly that didn't happen. I'm like a bear with an extremely sore head today, a bear whose brain has been replaced by cotton wool.
I came in at 18.5 points yesterday (I'm on 26) so I've made up some of my defecit and today is going well so far. I managed to rustle up some form of spicy sausage pasta (just chucked loads of stuff in a pan and hoped for the best) for today's lunch which I declare a success for a bargainous 6 points and I've already planned dinner for tonight. If I can keep my eyes awake I'll try and hit the gym... but I'm not holding my breath. I'm struggling with even typing here.
WI tomorrow - not really sure what it will bring, but then I rarely am! Had a lovely note from my new leader yesterday to say well done on my weight loss and that she was proud of me - how lovely. Matt had then highlighted it this morning and left it for me when I got up for work saying he was so proud of me too - Bless him, brought a little tear to my eye. Here's hoping for good things tomorrow!
Our Bathroom fitter has gone AWOL - turns out he's been in hospital but no one bothered to tell us. If you ever want a new Bathroom, DO NOT USE DOLPHIN! Flipping useless I tell you. 2 weeks in and we still don't even have a bath. Harumph.
Right, I am in danger of going off on one for no apparent reason. I'm off for a cuppa and a Sainsburys Mincemeat Puff for 2 points. That should cheer me right up!

Slightly improved
After the excesses of Friday and Saturday I was a bit more determined to be good yesterday. I was still totally shattered however, alcohol really does take it out of you. Maybe it's a sign of old age that my hangovers seem to last a hell of a lot longer.
Foodwise I was pretty good, had a late breakfast which meant I skipped lunch. That probably wasn't the best plan since I then went for a 45 minute swim. I felt a bit shaky afterwards, but I'm not sure if that was me being out of practice, or lack of food. I swim at a snails pace though so I don't ever feel like I've done a lot, but I really couldn't face doing anything else. I'd slow cookered some pork yesterday morning so that was dinner sorted, but I was seriously lacking energy for the rest of the day. I ended up sacking off the pub quiz and collapsing on the sofa. Is that still the alcohol from Friday zapping my energy or did I push myself too hard in the pool? (unlikely since I was practically being overtaken by a 3 year old!)
I've been summoned tonight for a flat meeting which I could well do without, my flat is 45 miles away from where we live now so a 90 mile round trip on a Monday evening is not ideal. It's likely to be a pointless exercise as well, given the guy who owns the flat which is causing us the problems with his tenants is away on business. Goody. I have managed to book myself in for a massage beforehand though, my shoulders are killing me today - clearly swimming is not good for me.
One of my best friends got enagaged at the weekend - so pleased for her as she is over the moon. Slightly jealous also since Matt's stance on getting married doesn't change, it's unlikely that I'll ever be next :(
All in all, I have little to report! Let's hope I can stay on track for the next few days so that Wednesday won't be too awful!

The perils of alcohol
As predicted Friday night was very alcoholic, I can't even begin to remember what I consumed on that front. There were 10 of and I seem to recall numerous bottles of wine, amaretto, baileys and champers being passed around. Oh dear. Dinner was lovely, 2 homemade lasagnes, 1 meat and 1 veggie, homemade bread and salad. I seem to recall having seconds of the lasagne, which I definitely didn't need but I imagine I'd have been in an even worse state than I already was, had I not eaten so much! I seem to remember agreeing to sign up to a knitting club?? How random.
I know we go home around 3am and I knew nothing more til 11am yesterday - once again missing Body Pump. I think I am fated never to try that class. We ended up at the greasy spoon for breakfast, but I left most of mine. It just tasted so greasy, not sure if that was the hangover or my tastebuds having changed.
Needless to say most of yesterday was a complete right off, I think the sofa became surgically attached to my backside. Our plans for last night got cancelled as my friends OH was ill with a sickness bug, that was disappointing as I was looking forward to seeing them, but it was probably a saving grace as we'd have been no company at all!
I've tried to point Friday and my hangover troffings of yesterday and I reckon I now have a nice defecit of 18 points! I'm definitely off to the gym today and into town for a little wander. I've planned meals for the rest of the week, so here's hoping I can undo some of the damage - and if not, well I had a brilliant night with my best friends, so it's really not the end of the world.

Weekend
Thank crunchie it's Friday. It's been a long old week, work was manic yesterday but I managed to sneak out on time to make it to Yoga. I nearly bottled it when I got there and saw all these slinky types with their own yoga mats and perfectly made up faces, but I thought sod it, I am booked in so I am blooming well going to do it.
Apparently it's normal to sweat during a Dynamic Yoga class - which is pretty reassuring given I was fairly glowing! The teacher explained that it was a combination of "traditional yoga postures with fluid movement and key breathing techniques." Hmmmm, whatever that means. The result is a pretty full on Yoga class, you go from one movement to the next without really stopping - and some of those positions are flipping hard going! I'm not fast enough to get from standing to downward dog to upward dog in a matter of seconds as was required, but I gave it a go! My muscles definitely feel it today but I am glad I went and was also glad not to be the only person in the class struggling with some of the positions, being skinny does not necessarily mean you have good balance.
The next 2 days are going to be a bit beyond my control on the food front. I've a pub lunch today and then tonight we're off to my friend Caroline's house for dinner to celebrate her birthday. The last time we were all round there, I recall we polished off about 20 bottles of wine and numerous bottles of spirits. Ouch. Tomorrow night Matt and I have been invited to my other friend Caroline's for dinner as well. They've 2 children so don't often get out and are therefore well up for a few beverages with us... could be dangerous also.
I'm going to try and get to the gym tomorrow, I may be fairly hungover but I'll need the activity points to counteract some of the alcohol I will have consumed. We may get a game of tennis in on Sunday and then we have the pub quiz to attend. We need to capitalise on last weeks winning streak.
Right, need to get back on with the dullness that is work so I can leave at a reasonable time today. Have a good one y'all.

Don't steal my pork chop!!
So after the shock of the weight loss yesterday, I've managed to stay firmly stuck on the wagon for nearly 2 whole days. Woo me. Last night I went into London to meet some friends and we had dinner at Ping Pong near Waterloo. I find Dim Sum almost impossible to point, but given everything we ordered was steamed or baked, I can't imagine I've done too much damage. I only had the one cocktail as well which was very restrained. The only trauma of the evening was my journey home on the slooooooooooooooooooow train. I left London at 2145 and wasn't in my flat until 2325!! It's only 35 miles for flips sake! Note to self - must get fast train from Paddington in future.
I'm feeling overly tired today, to the point it's making me a right old grump bag. I almost fell out with Matt this morning when I discovered he had eaten the 2 pork chops in the fridge for his tea last night. Honestly - why would he think they were both for him when there are 2 of us living there?? He was in last night and I am in tonight - surely common sense would tell him one each?? Anyway, I realise I am being overly annoyed about a bit of pig meat, so I shall have to let it go. PMT and tiredness doesn't make me the most sane of ladies.
I'm off to Dynamic Yoga tonight - I really don't have a clue what that involves but it sounds interesting. I'm trying new classes at the gym as I was starting to get a bit bored of the same routine. As much as I am shattered today, I reckon a bit of exercise will help lift my mood.
I also treated myself to a pair of boots from Evans today. I have been lusting after some Duo Boots, but they are £175 and I cannot afford that at the moment - plus with this weight loss business, I kind of hope my calves will be a lot smaller by next winter so spending that much cash on a pair of boots to fit my current fat calves would probably be a waste of money. These little puppies fit me perfectly at the moment and are only £40 - a bit plastic looking but they'll do for now.

Right then, had better get back to it. Work is mental today and I am in danger of being stuck here all night if I don't get back to it!

No so street!
Well firstly, WI, Ahem - I somehow lost 1.5 pounds which takes me down into the 17's!! That's 41.5 pounds now gone! I really cannot believe it. I can only think that the exercise I have done of late has contributed, or perhaps I've been overly hard on myself and my pointing. That is it now though! No more excuses and no more getting away with it! My goal to get to 16 something by New Year when we're off to Tenerife is now looking possible. Come on Linz!
So, Street Dance. Oh my God - I loved it! I was slightly worried when we got to the class as the girl who was taking it was so totally cool and looked amazing in her workout gear - unlike me. We learnt a routine of 24 steps, which we were taught 8 at a time. It's a really good workout, but since I was so busy concentrating on getting the routine right, I didn't actually look at the clock once for the whole hour or actually feel like I was exercising. I thought before this class that I had a bit of rhythm and could actually dance ok - Ahem, clearly that only applies when alcohol is liberally applied beforehand. Anyway, we eventually managed some form of routine which we performed at the end - despite my attempts at sabotaging the whole class with flailing arms and inpromptu body popping :) Unfortunately it's not on at my gym, so I probably can't go that often as I need to be signed in by a member of the gym its on at, but I'd definitely do it again.
Today I have lunch with me and nothing is going to tempt me off towards cakes, biscuits or full fat coffees. I am meeting some friends in London tonight so I need to be as restrained as possible. If I can get a couple of good days under my belt at the start of the week then it bodes well for the weekend usually.
Have a good day y'all!

Bleurgh
There is nothing like miserable weather to put me in a right bad mood. I'm cold and wet and my hair has turned to something resembling a cotton wool ball. I am dreading WI tomorrow, but I am also thinking that a little gain might be just what I need to get my big fat ass back on track. I've not exactly been bad of late, but I've not been good either. I'm probably going over points by 3 or 4 every day which is just stupid. Since I came back from holiday I haven't managed to get myself completely back on track and its annoying the hell out of me.
Today for example, I have my lunch with me - onion and chive cottage cheese and salad. Perfectly tasty and healthy and nothing else required. BUT, the consultants are in today - and they invited me for lunch. They are only in the office once a week so it's always good to go out and have a catch up and I stupidly thought I'd just have a coffee with them. Obviously I was then also seduced by the pecan and raisin cookies in the jar by the till - all because they said "Lower Fat" on them. It was like a sign that I needed to have one. So including the coffee (no skimmed milk) I've gone and blown about 7 points that I simply didn't need to have. The same thing happened last night - I had some pizza for tea, for which I had the points, but I had to then have a cup of tea and half a mince pie - taking me over. Bad times.
I've committed myself to Street Dance with one of the girls from work tonight so that will help. It will be good to try something different, but I'm slightly concerned given the class is for those 'used to exercise'. Hmmmmmm. Expect to hear me moaning tomorrow!
Thankfully we now have food in the fridge and freezer after last night's Asda delivery so there is no excuse to be bad other than my complete and utter lack of willpower.
So as ridiculous as it sounds, I am keeping my fingers crossed for a little gain tomorrow (like half a pound - anymore and I'll cry). I feel like I have been getting away with it for far too long - and if I lose this week after not being very good, I am not sure I'll have the willpower to get myself back on track. However, if by some complete and utter miracle I am fortunate enough to lose, I will do my very best to drag myself, kicking and screaming back on that wagon.

Yoga - the aftermath
Goodness me, I have aches in places I didn't even know existed. I don't think there is one part of my body that's not feeling it today. I rather sadistically like the discomfort - makes me feel like I worked.
Last night's pub dinner was a disaster, I opted for pasta with pesto, spinach and feta - asking them to go easy on the pesto and the feta. You can imagine my horror when the plate arrived swimming in a cream sauce. I really don't understand why they'd not advertise that on the menu. Anyway, needless to say after 3 mouthfuls I couldn't eat any more. It made me feel really sickly, just goes to show how my tastes have changed over the past year. Once upon a time a creamy sauce would have been a dream!
On the plus side however we won the quiz! So the 6 of us are now £43 richer.... I can't give up my day job just yet but it's a start :)
I've just agreed to go to a Street Dance class tomorrow. Now that will be funny!

Hangover and Hot Yoga
So Friday night ended up a bit more drunken than I had planned. We ended up hitting the wine which was definitely not part of my plan. That on an empty stomach was a recipe for disaster. Was great to catch up with the girls though and hear all about Nina's honeymoon, but by the time we decided to go for Tapas, I couldn't really eat much so in a way I guess that's kinda good?? It didn't feel so good on Saturday morning I have to say.
Matt wanted to watch the footy on Saturday afternoon so persuaded me to go to the pub once I got home. I stuck mainly to soda water, but did managed to snaffle a Roast Lamb and gravy baguette - with chips. Ahem. That followed by a Waitrose curry on Saturday night pretty much says it all.
This morning my dear friend Alex persuaded me to try a Bikram Yoga class at our gym. Now given I've not done yoga for about 20 years, plus sitting in a room at 37 degrees celsius at any time of the day is likely to finish me off - you can imagine the state of me after the 1.5 hour class??! However, I'm a bit more supple than I thought I would be I have to say, but some of the positions people were getting themselves into?? Never gonna happen. The instructor did kindly tell me I must have short arms when I couldn't wrap them backwards around my legs - but I am sure its just the fact I have excess amounts of thigh! Anyway, I have to say, it helped massively with my shoulder which has been niggling of late, so maybe I need to keep it up.
Went shopping this afternoon and bought a few new winter bits. I was over the moon to squeeze myself into a pair of size 20 jeans... not exactly tiny, but I've just sold most of my size 26 jeans on ebay, so you know, its all good!
Right, off to the pub quiz now, will not be drinking and will of course eat salad. Ahem.

"Darling... Don't be Alarmed...."
Michael McIntyre was absolutely brilliant - if you've not seen any of his stuff, you have to check him out on You Tube - this is one of my faves. I've not laughed so much in ages. I was sad when it finished! Comedy Genuis!
We went for a Chinese before the show which probably wasn't ideal, but I've actually come to realise that I am a lot better than I used to be regarding my choices and portion control. Once upon a time I would have made sure I got my half of everything, whether I was hungry or not, making sure I had my 'fair' share. These days, I seem to just take a spoonful of everything at first and only take more if I am actually still hungry. Its not really a big deal, but its definitely a step in the right direction. I no longer feel the need to pile my plate high in case I am missing out on something.
I am not expecting anything good at the scales next week, but I am definitely back on track today. I'm out with the girls tonight and I'll be firmly sticking to Vodka and Soda and I'll make the best choices I can when we have dinner.
Tomorrow I will go to the gym (hopefully hangover free) and we're playing tennis again on Sunday. Will be good to get moving again. I walked to the train station this morning as I'd left my car at work - it's only about 1.5 miles, but normally I'd ask Matt for a lift or wait for a bus, so I feel a bit better for having actually moved my ass. Small steps and all that.
I'm glad to be feeling back to my old self, the cold seems to be on its way out and I am going to try my best not to allow the dump currently doubling up as our flat to get to me - it'll be worth it in the long run. Good times.

Feed a cold
Well that seems to have been my motto yesterday. I worked from home waiting for 2 bathrooms to be delivered and a fridge engineer, that coupled with a massive bout of snottiness, it was not the best of days. The flat now resembles a warehouse with bits of bathroom everywhere. The fridge engineer was worse than useless - cannot find a fault (if you call opening the fridge and plugging it in - trying to fix it) He told me just to switch it back on and see what happens. Great stuff. I've had months of Comet telling me to turn it off - now I am told to turn the bloody thing back on. Useless.
I got to 1930 last night and all I'd had was 2 slices of toast, then Matt insisted we go out. I wasn't really feeling like I could be arsed, but once I had a shower and got out of the flat I felt a lot better. Me thinks I may have been wallowing in self pity for most of the day. So given I'd eaten nowt all day, I thought I'd treat myself - plus our local pub does 3 courses for £12. It'd be daft not to?! A Tuna Fishcake, Cod, Chips and Mushy Peas and Jam Sponge with Custard then. Jobs a good'un!
To be honest, I am not going to stress over that. I am bound to be well over points (not even going to try and work it out) plus my exercise has been zero since Sunday, but I need to give myself a break I think given I have been ill. I'm feeling a lot better today so I will hopefully stay on track. We are off to Wembley tonight to see Michael McIntyre which should be brilliant. I'll be glad to be out of the flat I reckon since the bathroom fitters start today. Carnage for the next 2 weeks!
